    I make terrible decisions.....GT6/Spitfire content.

    Talk to me about....

    ....late model Spridgets.

What and where to look for what?

    I'm the worst.

    Parts are so cheap.

How do I live with myself.

It's been sitting inside a basement for who knows how long.

    Just shoot me now.

I only know they aren't really worth shit and you could hear them rusting on the boat before it pulled into port.

    Thoughts?

I can count them all on one hand now.

....and my insurance only has 3 cars on it.

That is an improvement, which ones?

Personally I wouldn't want a car that is likely going to need some rust repair unless you can take it down to nothing and restore it right. To spend that sort of time x money on something that isn't likely to gain much value in doing so, or smiles per hour I'd pass. I mean I like MGB GTs but there are plenty of other cars that I'd take on as a project before them. If you have more than one project car I'd rather focus on that. There aren't enough hours in the day in my mind, I'd focus on what's in front of me/in the garage before bringing in a 4th/5th/6th car.

              I have the 1993 Rover, 1994 e34t, and 2003 330i.

Of those the Rover just shit the transfer case viscous coupling last week, and the 330 is waiting on me to replace the rear suspension, CCV system, etc.....normal shit at 155k.

Was actually thinking this....you're probably never going to let me live that down.

Or dad just got a wrecked 318 vert, may slap an M42 in there.

120hp in a little car like that would be wicked.....and 2x the power.

The dream of driving a british roadster through the crisp New England morning air wearing leather gloves, a hat, and a scarf. The top down, music playing, and watching the sun rise up over the trees...

(edit: I would probably have to get a tweed jacket and pipe as well).

                    Do it.

When I'm done with school I am going to get a proper roadster. I love my NA Miata; it's reliable, its cheap to maintain, and its fun to drive... but it lacks any feeling of romance. There is no real character to it. It does what you want, but thats it. I look back at my e30 after I park it. I look back at my VW after I park it. I don't look back at my Miata after I park it.

I oogle MG's when I (rarely) see them.

This is always an option: http://www.bmh-ltd.com/bodyshells2.htm

Between a decent donor MG B, refreshed suspension/brakes/etc, and a new, pre-painted shell, you could have a practically new MG for under 20k, and a lot less labor than patching up a rotted shell.

My next car HAS to be winter driveable. I need to stop looking at these.

Or there is Victoria British and Moss Motors. I've been though getting parts for MGBs and TR-3s at work, so I know the sources and how much stuff costs.....dirt cheap in most cases.

This little car sat in a basement for years, so rust may not be terrible, we'll see. They are not galvanized, so yeah....but neither were Rovers.

Rust is my enemy, as is body work, but these thing are just so damn cool...

M20 would be too much weight/old tech. If you slammed an M42 in that car and it isn't rusted out to begin with, you'd have a resto-mod for the books.

i have always been the kind of guy that when i buy a car i usually find a couple parts cars to fix the first one with. when i was in college, it was 65 gto's. i had one nice one and 5 or 6 parts cars stashed away in the woods behind my parents house. later it was tr7's because i found a cheap one for sale in similiar circumstances as this one in question here. i then found about 3 parts cars for it. now its e30's. i have the car in my sig photo, the cabrio thats becoming an m3, plus about 7 parts cars. for me, there is no way i could get involved in another make. i just don't have enough room to keep all the extras.

by the way....it sounds like you have had british cars already. i guess you already know the shit storm you are getting yourself into. it is simply a shame they are made so cheap and shitty. in spite of this handicap, some models have become very valuable over the years. unfortunately, that one will never likely be in this category.
