So, got a better look at the car.

    Driver's floor is gone gone.

Then I got on Moss Motors and they have entire floors for $360, and a warehouse 2 hours from here, so I can PU and not pay shipping. YAY

Also, the engine it toast. One of the freeze plugs is blown out.

BUT dad just got an e30 318 vert, 5sp. Think the frame is bent from it going into a ditch. SO I'm pestering him to let me part it out. Then full drivetrain, to a point, will be going into the Sprite. Done.

Engine bay looks great, no rust there. None in the trunk. A little in the passenger floor, but the entire pan from Moss will fix that.

Also it's a MK3. Removable soft top. Has a tonneau in the trunk. Found the owner's manual in the "glove" box too.

Good luck fitting an m42 into a Sprite. It's barely fitting in my MGB.

If it's going to be too much, the A series engine may get a K1100 head. Needs rebuilt anyways.

Anywho, waiting on the owner to get back from business. I don't think he knows how rusty it is. Going to try to hook him and do a walk about of the car, then flash the cash.

So, gave up on the Sprite. Getting nowhere with the guy since it was mommy's car. Meh.

Got offered a GT6 yesterday. Well.....more likes a Spit 6. GT6 with Spitfire tub. It's a fucking project. Two engines. One is torn down, but I don't care. Would look at installing a BMW mill anyways. Would need paint and a roof. Owned by a guy in the local British car club who has a TR4 and something else, think it was a TR6 or a MG. He's gonna shoot me some pics later today.

              Going in the right direction???

I LOVED my Spitfire 1500, but the engine was a serious weak point. Gorgeous body shape, good sounds, very attention-grabbing. The GT6 has the same looks with the cool coupe addition and a better motor. What type of GT6? Model year? Is it a GT6+? It is a bit tight inside, not sure how big an issue that would be for you.

I mean, I kinda like the original motor. It's no monster, but I retain that buying a British sports car is about driving a slow car and enjoying the hell out of it. There are a fair amount of things you can do to it without major surgery to pep it up, and it has a nice sound. The more that gets torn out and swapped, the less appealing the experience is to me. Get something with less character to start with.

Living in VA + Craigslist = you don't need no stinkin' money. Seriously though, my Miata set me back $1300.

Ehh, guy wanted too much for what it was. Granted it was done right up until a point, but needed too much to justify what he was asking.
