there is some grills I seen, since you like charcoal, that are gas on one side and charcoal on the other, you can use wich ever suits you that day!.

Always wanted a Weber. Skimped for years.......I now have a Weber. It's like comparing a Geo Metro to a BMW anything.
We hawked CL for a while and snagged an $800+ unit for $350 from a dude that cared for it like it was his kid. Ours is Natural Gas, so it's stupid simple to use.Originally posted by blunttechAlways Always go for the reach around if there is an optionComment

I have this grill, I would put it up against a big green egg any day. I have done several 24 hour smokes and only have to tend the charcoal about every six hours. Had it for years, much easier to clean than a big green egg and a fraction of the cost.

This man is correct!
You don't really have to spend much time or effort cleaning a BGE. I clean the ash out in under 5 minutes every 5-8 cooks (will do more often if doing longer cooks though).I have this grill, I would put it up against a big green egg any day. You can score a BGE on craigslist for 400-500 easily, they have no parts that wear (gas grills usually don't last more than 4-5 years) and they will grill direct/indirect, smoke or do high temp cooks (800+ degree F) for quick pizza cooking.Comment

Which models? I think the Genesis might still be made here instead of China. Main difference is the material. Steel is thinner, but you're grilling and not smoking right? It isn't getting move around and if you keep it protected when not in use, might not be worth spending the extra money unless it has other features, whats the BTUs and cooking surface area? Does one have a side burner and one doesn't? Some people inside on having the burner. But I have never used my burner, infrared or rotisserie.sigpicComment

So, the wife has been wanting a charcoal grill for reasons.
She likes stuff, and things that look artsy or something. She really likes the STOK 22.5 with the modular rack setup. I didn't like the construction, but I hate the three large/wheel setup on a Weber kettle.
I'm thinking of getting a Weber Silver, then buying the cast iron grill and accessories instead of buying some big orange thing as the rack she likes will fit into the Weber which I read seals better.
Opinions, suggestions?Comment
