Only problem with a solid state is that they give you zero warning when they crash, as I recently found out. Thankfully, most of my data was backed up, but still lost a bit.

I know I'll get a lot of hate by saying this. but... I dropped $2100 including tax on my MacBook Pro retina. thats more than I spent for my fucking car.
anyways, I love the computer and it works perfect for what I need to do with it. ie: take notes, autocad, logic, photoshop, and final cut. and the most important thing, be an applefag and show off my computer to impress da ladiez
but in all seriousness, the only reason I went with the macbook is because of this. in my freshman year of high school for christmas my parents and I went half and half on an iMac, it was the 21.5" widescreen when it first came out, Intel core 2 duo, 500 GB hdd, 4 gb of RAM. just really basic stuff, but even though that computer is coming up on 5 years old and I gave it to my parents to use for internet, email, movies. just basic computer stuff, it works just as good as the day we bought it!
and thats why I decided to buy the MB pro retina, I know the battery will go to shit eventually, but by the time that happens I'll probably be using it as a devoted desktop and it'll still be adequately fast for basic computing stuff. But I have been contemplating building a gaming PC so I can play BF4, buuuut car parts>computer games.
sorry for the rant. my

Running a western digital 2tb Solid state hybrid and I love it. Boot up with Windows 8.1 is like "holy shit the computer is ready before I am"
I would get a SSD, but I spend too much money on guns, ammo, and alcohol. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

im running a 120gb solid state and I think its more fuss than anything else. Its kind of a pain to change all the default settings to have all of your files go to the hard drive not the solid state. Im not sure how the fusion drives work but that sounds like a better option. The solid state does make the computer boot faster but does not really effect the performance of the computer during applications or games. I dropped over 2k on my build and I wish I had passed on the ssd.
