Holy shit, I was going to post the exact same thing. Definitely in the top few overrated bands of all recorded time. I like "In Bloom" though. He was talented and its sad how he couldnt handle life. His fucking junkie leach attention-whore opportunist wife didnt help either.

Are you shitting me? Seattle bands become popular for a few years and it surpasses N.Y. and L.A.(TONS more bands came out of L.A. in the 80's alone that would put the Seattle bands to shame)? Not to mention multiple cities in England. Cmon guy, I know youre from Seattle, but lets check our excitement. ;)

Lennon died a good 10 years after they broke up and in the meantime no one would let them rest with thoughts of a reunion. The "Past Masters" albums were put out in the mid 70's and still sold tremendously, as did Mc Cartneys (subpar music IMO) albums with Wings and lets not even talk about Lennons solo stuff. All before he died and after they broke up. Even Georges "All Things Must Past" is among one of the essential albums in ones collection. All before Lennons death and all popular.

Like Eric, Charlie and some of you others, Nirvana hit me hard. It was at that time when change was occurring in music in a big way, and we were all ready for it. All the early 90's altrock bands were IT for me. Eric and I used to cruise around and listen to Blind Melon like it was a drug or something.

Great stuff, great memories. Thanks Charlie.

+2 Bobby, that's exactly what they and alternative music were to me. It hit me at a time in my life when I was really getting into music. I was into all the big ones, and even more of the smaller indie bands.

My favorites were Tad, Primus, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, The Breeders, The Pixies, Girls Against Boys, Weezer, The Rentals, Braniac, L7, Sponge, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Helmet, Garbage, Helium, Juliana Hatfield, Bush, RHCP, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Killing Joke... I could go on for days. And I still listen to most of these regularly.
