    So....Chromebooks....what say R3V?

I'm starting to research my options re: a portable PC device. Tablets are nice but they do have some limitations (I prefer a keyboard to type on). Knowing I would mainly be using this device for e-mail, web surfing news, and YouTube.....I won't need something that's loaded up with bloatware. What has drawn me to consider a Chromebook is their affordable pricing and (from reviews I've read) their simple functionality. I'm familiar with Chrome OS, just not the Chromebook devices.

If you have any experiences with them, please chime in. Thanks!

If that is litterally all you're doing go for it. Don't let the PC gaming mustard race convince you otherwise.

I've had an ASUS one for about a year or so, it's great for just web browsing and fiddling around. You can of course use Google Docs and get plenty of work done, but no 3rd party programs.

That's really the limiting factor for me, at least. Eventually you'll want to install something different, and you won't be able to. iTunes, outlook, whatever.

This says tablet + bluetooth keyboard case to me.

It's easier to kick back with a tablet than a laptop. Better battery life, etc.

I had a chromebook and returned it. Mostly because it didn't allow viewing of PDFs with bookmarks. I bought an 11.6" ASUS laptop. No CD drive so it is really thin. I really like it. Has an i3 intel chip.

There's internet rumors that an i3 powered Chromebook will be available later this year. Right now I am just starting my search.....I like to get more info and read/watch product reviews before making a purchase. Buying won't be happening really soon.....but it will happen.

              Great feedback from all :D

I had a laptop, galaxy tablet, and now with a acer touch screen chromebook. I love it.. its touch screen so sometimes i use that. Its a little bit heavier but i dont mind. I had an hp before and the battery life was 3 hours or 3.5 so i returned it and got this cer. The battery life is amazing. It also charges very fast, and lasts like 7 hours maybe more.
I used it for online browsing, google docs, and thats baout it. So for me its perfect. And its like 11-12 inches.

Mine's also got a 320gb HD in it, so I have all my music and photos backed up on it, too.

i have an iPad air with an accessory clamshell key board. i like it a lot but most of the time i carry my 13.3" mac book. the biggest drawback of the iPad is that its storage is small and its price is kinda high in comparison to other similar products on the market. the plus side is that i have never had a virus on it which is priceless for a guy like me that really doesn't know how to wipe the memory clean and reboot.

Kinda high? My Chromebook was $275, and has USB ports and an SD card slot. Not trying to start a brand war, but the simplest limitations of iPads make them totally undesirable to me.
