bro its the last time you will probably see some of the people you went to school with, and if that doesnt get to you in 2 or 3 years how about the fact that you never experianced a High School graduation. all the crazy and wacky stories that come along with it.... come on bro, think about it, is a car show more important than the memories and good times you WILL have on Grad day? think about it. And runs this thought by some of your friends.
2. Most of these guys are not old enough to be "wise" about life
3. I am - you will look back and have some regret if you do not go to graduation. Seriously. While I really have very little to do with my old HS friends, I still have good memories of HS, and graduation, as dull as the ceremony may seem, is a defining moment in your life to some small degree. Make it interesting - come up with a harmless prank - we had super soakers under our gowns as it was hotter than hell. When it was over, we went to town on each other.
Your options:
1. Go to graduation, which WILL suck, guaranteed. It will be hot, boring, last way too long, and you'll be wishing you were at the picnic the entire time.
2. Don't go to graduation, and NOT know what you missed and regret it for the rest of your life...or...maybe not.
What does your family want you to do? You have to live with them for the rest of your life, and I don't necessarily mean live in their house. Things like this are usually pretty proud moments in a parent's/g-parent's life, so I would weigh out their feelings on the matter. It's just one day and if it means something to them, I'd say do the graduation.
It does sound like you've already made up your mind though. There really is nothing anyone can tell you to sway you, you just decide which and roll with it.
Is there no possibility of finishing graduation, walking or w/e, then splitting and making the picnic too, even if a bit late? j/c.
My family made my graduation a huge deal and my grandmother probably wouldnt speak to me now if I hadnt walked. I recomend you sit down with your Dad and have a real talk about it since he didnt walk. He might be the best source of advice. Just keep in mind that youll more than likely go to numerous other e30 picnics and see the same e30 guys year in and year out, but you will not speak to 99% of the people from high school ever again. I graduated from prep school and Ive yet to see even my best friends since graduation. When you make your decision, make sure you make the best of it, thats the best advice I can give you.
Simple - with graduation comes graduation parties.
This gives ample opportunity to score with some shitfaced girls from your class who you will never have to face again - so you can pretty much have a guilt free one nighter. Hell, you may even be able to use the "this might be the only chance for us" line to help you get some.

He's got a serious girlfriend, I doubt banging drunk high school sluts is high on his list of priorities. He isn't like what you guys are suggesting at all.

walking at high school was kinda stupid. i was glad i went cause i got an award for my art which was a surprise, but otherwise it was just long and pointless. im not sure yet if i'll even go next year when I graduate from college
but the parties. ooooooh man the parties...
