I took a job opportunity in Southern California recently and I'm currently on my way to relocate from Columbus, Ohio. I'm sitting at some crappy hotel in Kansas City right now.
I knew this move was coming but didn't expect it to happen quite so quickly. I was originally going to move with my GF at the end of August when my lease is up. A job opportunity popped up and they want me out there yesterday so I packed up and am heading out early. Had about two weeks to get my shit ready so I've been running around like mad. I'm staying with a friend in Long Beach till I find my own place. Had to get the E30 prepped so I did all the following.
Changed:
-oil/filter
-dif fluid
-dif bushing for a poly one
-trans fluid
-cleaned the airfilter
..the usual long drive stuff. This is also putting some faith in both my personal work with this swap, and a relatively unknown engine. Thankfully I had already ordered a cruise control kit from Levent at GPS as it has been absolutely a life saver. I don't have A/C in the car so I've been cooking in some 90+ humid weather.
Heading to Denver tomorrow to stay with a friend and hang out for a day. It should break up the drive nicely and give me, and the car a nice rest. From Denver to Las Vegas and from Vegas get an early start across the desert and hope to be in Long Beach mid day Wednesday. If anyone along route 70 wants to meet up for a drink or lunch or something let me know. Or if anyone in the Las Vegas area would be gracious enough to let me crash on your couch.
Few pictures
Trunk packed tight as can be

Not much room in here either. Passenger seat is stuff full too.

And the majority of my large crap is being shipped out by my old work when I get a place.

The chariot

Been averaging 23.5mpg with the bikes up there. Alittle lower than I was hoping for but it's not hateful.
The first part of this drive has been relatively uneventful. Ohio is boring, Indiana is hands down the worst state in the country to drive through. Garbage roads, constant construction, terrible drivers. I was happy to get out of it. Illinois was smooth and empty, Missouri was more of the same but damn it got hot as balls around St Louis.
Not sure what this was..tornado? Atom bomb? Probably just a power plant actually.

Then I drove through this and it was most intense rain I've ever seen but only lasted like 5 minutes. Enough to soak me even further while I was getting gas.

lookin like a real queef

I've got an awesome trucker tan going on already.
Then I came up on this car. Looked to be a real clean early Mtech1 car with Kentucky plates. Exchanged a few thumbs up, snapped a few pictures I dipped off to get to my hotel. Not sure if you're on here but your car looked clean. It's a shame I didn't have someone nice to drive with the whole time.

So that's where I'm at. stretching my back on the dirty ass floor of a cheap hotel somewhere near Kansas City. Pretty boring up to this point really but hopefully I'll have some good photos and adventures once I hit the mountains.
