    Nurburgring Sept 13

Studying abroad following semester and about to pull the trigger on a GT86 from RSR Nurburg for 4 Laps on September 13.
Scared out of my whits to drive the 'ring but I've been trying to read up about as much literature on it as I can. Scariest corners seem to be Pflanzgarten and that one that with the decreasing radius everyone understeers out of.

Anyone going to be around the area that would like to give me a ride? I'm going to be using an instructor for two laps, but the more track time the better.

Also, anyone on the forum specifically have experience with RSR Nurburg? I'm doing the all inclusive package, but I was wondering if I could use the GT86 to get around the area the day before Sept 13. I'll be around Nurburg Sept 11-14 so a mode of transport would be nice. I already emailed them about it (they haven't replied back yet) but just wondering if anyone has personal experience with that.

Rock star. This sounds like so much fun... the GT86 sounds like the perfect choice, too. Predictable and not so much power that you can easily get yourself into trouble.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience.

Just don't drive over your limit and you'll be fine. It has been my dream to go to the Nurburgring and I will make it happen some day! Practice on some racing sims to get an idea of the track, that way you will at least know the turns.

Yeah I'm very excited about the GT86. Similar enough to the E30 in terms of handling.
I wanted to go cheap and get the Renault Twingo they have, but I would feel too uncomfortable driving a front wheel car fast, having never done so before.

The RSRNurburg experience has been good so far, nice timely communication with good amount of help.

Booked a place with Airbnb that is walking distance to the nurburgring as I'm trying to not pay for a rental car to travel around the Nurburg area. Will be arriving via train and bus from Frankfurt.

$98 for the room (two nights)
$650 for the GT86 4 laps with instructor
$45 for transport from Frankfurt (6hr trip)

Pretty minimal as far as costs so far. I would already be in madrid so the flight from Madrid to Frankfurt was only $140.

I'm going about a week later, renting a Suzuki Swift from rent4ring for 6 laps. I thought about the 86 since I have a BRZ but wanted some self preservation built in with lower speeds of the swift.

I plan on going there that weekend, but if it's raining I'll stay at home.

If you see this car at the parking lot, come say hi and take a ride along the ring with me!

Ill be sure to look for you!

Unfortunately RSR Nurburg had to attend an event at Spa the week I want to go so there will be no rental cars :(
Now I have to find a place that will rent a RWD car to a 20 year old.

This place looks ideal but there are no reviews on it on the internet unfortunately.
                That E36 325i tho

I'd be amazed if you had managed to take the pic AND drive on the ring simultaneously.

OP, see if you can rent a hot-hatch Peugeot or Renault. The GT86 would be a great choice too but you'll never get to drive one of them French cars here!

                        Update:
Drove Nurburgring. Really amazing time. More fun than you can possibly imagine. Also extremely dangerous and scary track. Nothing like going over a crest at 120mph and not knowing what's on the other side if you don't know the track that well! :)
The area around is god damn pretty. I have to go back soon, 6 laps did not satisfy me.

Also I got super lucky. Booked my stay at my Airbnb place for two days. The only two days available to drive the Nurburgring that week. First day, the day i signed up with the rental car, got to drive the nurburgring the whole Touristenfarthen session. The next day, everyone got to do one lap because there was one minor and one major crash. You should have seen how many pissed off people there were! One dude flew all the way from Mexico with his RUF 911, but got here on Thursday (Tourist driving days were Wednesday and Thursday). He did one lap and then the track closed! He was livid.

But yeah. If you go to the ring, book your stay for two nights.

now you need to start monitoring the photographer's pages to see if they caught you driving. I found a pic of myself driving my rented polo gti. what did you drive?
