Seriously - the lazy Mexican thing is a tough one to sell. The guys I see around here are the roofers, the landscapers, road construction and the like -doing ass busting jobs that kids like Heeter and his generation are too "good" to do.

When I got my roof done on my old house in 2002, the crew there was all Mexican - only one guy spoke broken English. They worked form sun up to sun down in August - long sleeves and jeans, and only broke for one meal. I about had to argue with them to take the beer I brought them at night when they were wrapping up. The same year, a kid I knew who was about 22 got laid off - he told me that he got offered a job roofing and he passed on it - $275 a day wasn't enough for him to do that "grunt work".

To be called ingnorant by a product of the Californai Public School system who prefered to spend his time snorting drugs does not carry much weight.

Just read this morning that there is a notable Sherrif In Phoenix Arizona that is adding more deputies and will be adding many more patrols of the area to search for illegal immigrants that cross the border. He has made it clear that he will enforce a new law to place those found and caught in JAIL! He is quoted as saying" I'm not going to turn you over to the FEDS to get a free ride back to Mexico and I am going to give you a free ride into jail"

Some people are protesting this and in the meantime its jail for anyone caught crossing the border illegally. This is a step in the right direction.

Oh, the media informed me of this as well.

If you want to udnerstand ingnorance then think for a moment about how ignorant it is to invite a person that you know nothing about to come by your "hood" and shoot you. Does that really sound like something a rational and well informed person would do?

Agree to disagree. We wont get eachother. Well leave it at that. You cant discount everything I have to say simply because I made mistakes in life. I went to college, I guess all that doesnt count. Its this kind of "Black and white" "cut and dry" attitude that gets us no where with no compromise. I was being sarcastic when I was "inviting" you. And I dont live in a 'hood, sorry if my last name threw you off. I live in Glendale. Home of the Armenians and a middle class neighborhood. :) I only went to public school for senior year. See rational thought! No shooting or "turning Iraq to a sheet of glass" (totally different subject of course). Apparenty vert is beyond criticism. When I worked landscaping up here last summer my boss was constantly losing jobs to crews that employed all illegal immigrants. Im not knocking theyre work ethic, because frankly it was better than most, but its lame when they put the honest, hard working guys who pay their taxes out of work or cost them contracts.

I guess my point wasnt coming across. It doesnt have anything to do with competition. Even if I was paid minimum wage Im still being taxed. In turn my employer pays taxes on me as well. Running a landscaping company with 3, 5 man crews adds up to alot just in taxes that the illegals dont have to pay. They can undercut us no matter what. I have no problem with competition, but thats just an unfair advantage that has nothing to do with work ethic or quality of the final product.

You wanna talk about an unfair advantage? Jesus how about the U.S. practicing a foreign policy that gets all underdeveloped countries by the balls and forces them to send ALL their best goods here, subsidizing our farming industry to further make all other countries with farming industries uncompetitive therefore forcing more poverty and less opportunity. I cant believe Americans complain about unfair advantage when talking about an immigrant away from his homeland (by choice, but still tough) having no rights and paying taxes into Social Security and Federal, State taxes they will never see the benefits from. Unfair advantage, thats simply rediculous. We rape everyones economy over the world expanding our empire and complain when people want to come here because its the only decent place to make a living. All of Central/South America is electing governments that will not bow to Americas every whim and treat them like a source for fueling our gargantuan consumption of resources. We consume so much and then when we run out, we take from others. Then we complain when we start seeing the effects of this? On TOP of this, we think that we are at an unfair advantage against people cant get a license, cant go to college, cant do SO many things that we can JUST because were born here. And THEY have at the unfair advantage? Cmon dude. Illegal immigration has been happening since early this century, its no new thing. Its just a new wedge issue to keep us arguing while the fat cat business criminals continue to eliminate the middle class and make fewer and fewer rich, and a WHOLE LOT of people poor. But thats never an issue. The people that steal billions get 3 years in prison, while the person that sells a 10-piece o' rock, gets mandatory minimum 5-10.

Again focusing only on the latinos. How abouw the Chinese, Koreans, Indians? Granted its a smaller percentage of the immigration, but it goes to show the ONLY immigrants people can think of, is the latinos. Or, because everyone that speaks spanish is from Mexico, "Mexicans".
