Yeah lots of them self-loathe. Mariano, I think it might be, in part, due to greed. The Viet, PR, Mexicans, and Cubans I know to be conservative all have their own businesses. Successful ones at that. I think they get sucked in by tax cuts.

There's so many points of views about this debate, most are right, others are self righteous and others just plain irrational.

Yes, tons of day laborers get paid cash (not by choice), hence they don't get to pay taxes, do you know why they get pay in cash ? simple, GREED !Incredibly, the first thing they look for when they arrive it's a way to obtain PAPERS so they can get hired, get paid a reasonable wage and built a future, they don't rush out to the local Welfare office to get free government cheese Boucher's nor sign-up for section 8.

The same greed I see everyday here in Malibu, multimillionaire dollar homes and nannies arriving by bus. one would think that my neighbors would be able to afford at least a legal nanny., there's even live-in ones that don't get pay at all, just room and board, darn modern day slavery, it's just greed.

Greed that our beloved IMF promotes by doling-out loans at outrageous rates that no country will ever be able to scape from, while dictating terms of inflation and economic growth that will choked them even more.

The reality is that the middle class in America as we know it is disappearing at an incredible rate. A so called matured workforce that's it's barely able to keep hordes of ill educated youngness competitive with our old world chumps. The ever eroding scenes of entitlement that rages across generations, undistinguished any shades of color as long as you are born here.

Tons and tons of Americans of African descent that refuse to even file taxes, Tons and tons of kids born in rural areas of White parents that refuse to work at all, should we also deny all of this kids an American Citizenship at birth because generations of their ancestors live off welfare ?, after all they contribute even less than Pedro and Maria.

But don't give them laurels yet, Mexico's Vicente Fox refuses to control the northern side of his boarder, very different scenario on his souther boarder, Why ?, easy, more of his destitute patriots will have a chance at available jobs here and help his economy by sending billions of US earned dollars back to their impoverish families, greed at work once again.
he won't even educate the indigenous people in rural areas, the old Conquistador mentality prevails hundreds of years later, a whole race raped, almost extinguished, yet it still live and well.

I'll never forget a business trip south of the border, I was selling a primordial tool to make pres stressed concrete sections, as I made my sales pith, the plant owners said to me,

my thoughts were "wow, he managed to vibrate forms with farm animals", I turned around to inspect his nifty innovation only to discover that the Animals were actual people, DARN !


Another reality that it's never spoken about it's immigration but not from impoverished countries, I don't mean wester Europe since it would be irrational to give up a better social structure, working conditions, life style etc unless you're in the top 5% of the salary range.
I'm talking about the 100's of idealist that want to scape a monotonous way of life, a way of life that it's all planned out since the moment you enter kindergarten, and where a life time position awaits you at a company that recruited you prior to graduating collage and will pay you a good salary and provide a social structure to be proud of.
Well, they leave for the land of dreams, the land of the free, the land of entrepreneurs for one inequitable reason. the desire to play their own hand and live with where the chips fall. the same reason the Mayflower existed, the reason America it's the land of virtue built by immigrants of all races and creeds.

it wasn't 200 years ago that signs read "Irish Need Not Apply", that sign evolved as new waves of immigrants came., and it will keep on evolving as long as we remain the land of the FREE !

Agreed. The immigrants I've worked with in the past have all busted their asses day in and day out. Meanwhile lazy white suburban kids give me attitude at the bank drive through as they pull $9-10/hr.

It's all relative, and it's very complicated. There is a gradual shift in class structure in America right now, and this has been happening for years. I recently listened to a Princeton professor speak on this topic, and he cited that immigration rates have been steady since 1970 [I haven't personally verified this but along with population increase, it seems logical]

This is not a new issue, and the fact that it is classified as a "problem" is debatable. Taxes are being paid, and when they are not, why do we not hold the employers accountable? And finally, this could be a case of political manuevering to divert attention from the current shakeups in the Republican party. No, I am not damning the Republican party - this sort of stuff happens all the time in both parties. Backburner issues take the forefront, the media has something new to chew on for a while, and on we go to the next big issue.

I'll agree with what you said here. My mother, along with the entire side of my mothers family loathe Castro. Did you know you cannot have milk after the age of eight? That $20 is the maximum a person can make a month? That a box of cigars costs $30? That a repair to a car costs around $75? When my mother visited Cuba, she talked to a farmer, and the things he said about America were rediculous slander that Castro had put out. I'll try and remember, put it here... and I ain't no "scab".



Oh and I didn't want to work. I just found out about this the day before is all. And yes, most of my relatives on my mothers side have become successful. Not their own businesses, but successful. Aerospace Engineer for Lockheed Martin would be the top (Uncle Benny)...

Yes, it's a case of political maneuvering. It's worked well thus far. My concentration of study is American political systems and some of the stuff this administration has pulled out of their ass is simply amazing. Simple, effective, and completely distracting - much like the abortion issue you cited. Politically, that issue will never be resolved. It's way less about fetuses than it is about the political balance of power and the rallying of the party bases.
