Meh, politics has always been about bringing up support and influence from proproganda and "marketing" as I'd refer to it. Maybe now a days it's media and those in power or desiring to be telling us what we should care about or think, but remember even back in the day European leaders would twist and abuse religious belief to draw power.

Basically, politicians know America is too dumb or lazy to be able to think for itself, so it's just being able to have them believe or sell an idea to the masses and have them buy it.

Yeah pretty much. In the intro classes, there's always a few "true believers" that are shocked to find out that a political party has nothing to do with issues and everything to do with maintaining power.

There's a book called "Out of Order" that talks about the media's role in modern politics. It's turned into a horse race devoid of issue-based content. "Legislators rallied voters at an Ohio conference today, hoping to boost support for his new immigration reforms" --- the media spends time spinning these stories day in, day out, with little explanation of the issue itself. Jon Stewart flipped out once on 'Hannity and Colmes' because of this, it was pretty funny.

The Media would never really play the truth about the refugees from New Orleans. The things presented in this forum about how ungrateful they were, how they stole cars delivering supplies, etc etc... that won't be played up because The Media is too busy blaming their problems on the President.

Honestly, it was clear that the people were told to get the fuck out and a hurricane was on the way... and they are under fucking sea level, but they stayed anyway and then bitched about it afterwards. And expected handouts and gambled away their FEMA $$, etc.

Did you guys hear about the lady in atlanta and her LV purse? I lived there at the time and was so pissed off! My parents say there are still people living off the govt. in hotels there! That whole living off the govt. thing doesn't surpriise me though. It's funny how in the beginning welfare was a way to get back on your feet and feel like you are being given a chance at the american dream. Now it seems the american dream is to see how many generations of a welfare family can milk the system and not do shit! I think after your third kid they should take 30% out of you check. That way you will stop having kids to gain more money. There was an older african american lady I saw who is PISSED at people on welfare. she said her generation understood it was temorary, and this one is using it through a series of loopholes.... and that it brings shame and preconcieved notions that all lower class people are lazy abusers. It's sad that someone like her who utilized welfare the right way is an advocate for total abolishment of the system.

Bring in Mexicans, Salvadorans, Guatemalens, etc under a guest worker program. 6 months to one year period. Keep them documented, give them an ID card. Allow them to aqquire temp driver's liscenses, hell, make it a "to work and back" type liscense such as used with DUI cases. Don't give them health care or any other "perks", treat them like most of us poor schmucks that do contract work. Any felonies or other serious issues, you're gone from the program. Show up to work with MS-13 gang tats, you're gone. Require that businesses pay them the same labor rate as a citizen. This eliminates one of the "perks" of hiring illegal workers. Clamp down on any business that uses illegals. 2 years maximum time in the program, after that you need to apply for citizenship. After that, you're either shipped back, or you're risking a felony charge.

The US did this back in WWII when most of our boys were shipped off to war, the program was successful with 1940's technology, I'm sure we can handle it with modern tracking capabilities.

Osama's boys didn't come in through Mexico, they weren't jumping fences in Arizona.
