    Received "that" dreaded phone call....

My cell phone vibrated in my pocket this morning while I was doing my clinical rotation. There is an absolute no phone policy on the hospital floor during clinicals. Once I had a little break I was able to peak at the phone and see it was only an x co-worker. Five hours went by before I decided to call my co-worker back. Once I called him, I asked what was up? He said, "Oh I was calling to see how your son was doing". I asked him what he meant and he said, "you don't know?" I asked know what! "Oh man, I drove past an accident and it was your son! My heart dropped and I could not speak. Once I got myself together I asked if he was sure it was him. He said he was positive it was my son. He said that my son seemed conscious when he drove by.
(The accident happened just up my road so my co-worker assumed I knew and that we were on our way.) My co-worker got off the phone with me so that I could call my son. My son didn't answer his phone so of course I'm a wreak. I called my co-worker back but by this time my son's name appeared on the other line. I answer and it was my son sounding out of it but talking (PRAISE GOD!)
Long story short, an old lady nearly hit him head on but my son avoided it by turning to the right and taking the blow on the drivers side. She t-boned him real good. Fire department had to knock his quarter window out and use the "jaws" to pry his door open. My son is okay and is home now. He's very sore and will be even more sore tomorrow but he is here in one piece.
"That" phone call was horrible but it could have been worse.

Sorry for the grammar errors but my head is not in the right place right now.

Glad your son is alright, hopefully he heals up quickly.

Looks like you can see the outline of the door beam, it certainly did its job. Doesn't look like it's even bent.

The beam did it's job well. Any other car would have been worse.

Ouch, hope your son feels better soon. I get nervous as well from time to time but my son is like most and doesn't drive often.

I'll reiterate the previous sentiment and say im glad your boy is OK! and best of luck with his recovery. good thing he had the presence of mind to avoid what could have been a gnarly head-on impact.

It's been said a million times, but is still just as true.

Cars are replaceable, people aren't. I'm glad your son is OK.
