a Miami car at Sebring?

It's not too far! The owner is old friends with the fellow who owns the white and red Elva MkIV in the one picture there. Very nice guy, obviously. We've known him for a while as well.

Wow, there really is a whole other world out there. And I thought the Ginetta was fast...

What an unbelievable car. I'll readily admit it's the first real performance car I've ever driven, but still! I mean, completely well-behaved in the pits just above idle in first gear, and WOW is there power. I used maybe three-quarter throttle in second and third gear, never went above 4,500rpm. It didn't matter. What a surge. And smooooooth, holy crap. Comfortable, great noise....I guess I see why people like them, haha.

Anyway, oil pressure was ~10-15psi at idle when warm (the gauge isn't super detailed) and immediately shot up to 70psi off idle. The clutch was heavy but extremely easy to modulate. Consistent bite and not hard to get used to. Gearbox worked very well, too. Man, if only I could have the time to get comfortable with that car...whew.

its so awesome you had the opportunity to drive one of these. thank you for the info. i appreciate you taking the time to check on that for me.

what is really amazing is the balance the car has. full of raw power like a caged animal but at the same time, with the traction control on, so balanced and easy to control. traction control off is another story. you can leave the entire tread off the tires on the pavement behind you in one launch.

10 to 15 psi at idle is very disconcerting but i have been told that is a normal reading for this engine. good to know that you confirm this. the black car i drove was the same. the silver one in new york, i didn't think to take a look at it.

as far as the clutch is concerned, they were both pretty heavy, but the black one in california was far worse.

Low pressure at idle can be disconcerting but isn't a huge issue design-wise. The key is the pressure rising substantially just off idle.

the F40 is my dream car, which I highly doubt I will ever have the 7 figures to purchase, but I think a V12 Ferrari is possible.... someday....

got to do a track day at Homestead in the 458 mid last year. That thing is beyond amazing. The handling and braking are almost indescribable! Nice choice in car!
