I have a G4 with a widescreen on my desk (pushed to the back) and a G5 sitting under it. The best thing about them is the handles they come with for moving them, second best is when you minimize things they fly into that control bar. If I was stoned that would entertain me for hours. I guess I should admit I prefer to watch DVDs on that monitor.

On the front of my desk is a Precision 380 and an IBM lappy. And I HATE those pointless programs like the newest Paltran or Autodesk that will get all of these kids decent jobs someday. And that compatibility due to network externality, that is just fucking gay. Who wants to be able to take something made on a common app and know it will work on some other idiots computer?

    Im now E30less.

      Frankenstein say, "Mac good."

My daughter has a new $2400 Mac Notebook. I love it. It's great! It would be even more lovable at $1500. I use mostly Adobe stuff and Quark Xpress in my work. I run CS2 on both systems and Premiere and After Effects on a PC. The problem with Macs is they are overpriced and will not open their OS to developers. They are also in the embarassing position of finally putting in a chip that allows apples to Apples comparisons and they are slow. The biggest barrier to Mac acceptance is their business model. Apart from the restraint of trade aspects, Bill Gates sees a little farther down the road than anyone else. Windows is not an operating system, it's a software marketing device.

I've used an apple probably before you were able to do 3 times 3. Also, our IBM was green-screen and ran in DOS. Since back in the day, I've also liked the freedom and control of Windows/PC over the "ease" of being walked like a fucking toddler by an Apple.
Our IBM ran OS/2. You probably don't even know what that is.

If you're using any kind of GUI, you're doing something a 5 year-old can. Windows is easy as fuck, Mac OSX is easy as fuck. Please. Compare Finder and Explorer. Nothing is different.

So if OSX is like an auto and Windows is the manual then why is the Apple such a fucking pain to use? And please stop with the stoner comments, correct me if im wrong but you're the one who got trashed then knocked some bitch up. Alcohol can kill you, pot can not.

                ;-) :borg:

it's a pain to use because it doesn't allow me to do what I want. there are too many protections built in to safe idiots from messing it up.

Actually, DOS and Unix are the "manuals" of the operating system. Explorer and Finder are the waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles shit "automatics." You're trying to compare two different models of a car.

Yah, the IT guys get some headaches from dealing with it, but as far as users go, it's not like its user-unfriendly as much as Apple-freaks whine about. The people who are complaining the most about using computers are the dumb females not being able to attach files... or forget their passwords.

DOS is like the Flintstone's car. Maybe Windows is too simplified if you're a programmer or those who are enjoying the world of Matlab... whatever.

The funny thing, is that out of the box, Windows and OSX are terrible imho. On my Mac and on my WinPC I disable 90% of the helper/assistant crap.

They are equally usable out of box, although a mac does come with more preinstalled software for most people (IE CD Burning, DVD Creation, Image Editing, Video Editing, etc)

Hell the only OS I like out of box is Debian, and thats because I use the netinstall that has NOTHING in it.

I'm gonna make those annoying things I don't want go away... eventually.

what's strange is one of my IT friends is an Apple Ho, and loves the features it has for him. different strokes for different folks.

I like some of Apple's shit, but anyone with hard-on's for overpriced white bother me. I'm gonna be rocking an AirPort Express next semester, cool ass stuff.

                                ;)

managers don't need to understand how shit works, but just motivate those who do. don't you read Dilbert?

I say nothing is impossible, just needs a creative, intelligent person who can a new way around the problem. Hell, what do you think engineers do besides problem-solve?
