    So, I'm basically out ~$350...

    Son of a bitch man.

So, I was at Reno Fernley Raceway this past weekend and on Saturday (raceday) I was driving along and my helmet camera came off my freggin helmet!

It was held on by this super velcro stuff thats REALLY good, and I could hold the helmet up by the case that enclosed the camera. Between the track being super bumpy in some places, me brushing the camera ever so slightly (maybe just the cord, I never felt it but I can see my hand move near it in the video) tapping the back of my helmet as a signal to draft me to a kart I had passed, and not running the cord through my neckbrace to keep it from falling far, it got loose. When I get it replaced someday I'll have to use that super velcro, duct tape, AND maybe a rivet with a P clip holding the cord to my helmet. I cant afford that shit happening to me /rant. Anyways, it fell to my lap, bounced around and was dangling everywhere. Eventually the protective case slid off the cam, and a minute or two later the camera itself tore from its cord and no more video....:'(

Grand Nationals are at Reno Fernley in a few weeks and I dont have cash to replace my camera yet! I hope I can scrape together the cash. Anybody want to help the cause? Can't hurt to ask, but its almost a joke with us :P

I'll post some of the footage I got of the race and the poor camera's last stand once I convert it from my mini dv cam here in a few minutes.

Man that really sucks. Your story has made me loose some faith in velcro :-P

Now if you want to try something that really sticks, give this stuff a whirl. I've used it to patch holed M20 oilpans....

This shit isnt even just normal velcro, both sides are like a hard plastic (not one fuzzy side) that really lock together well. I just must have smacked it pretty good or tangled my hand with the cord just right to pull it off. Its like an industrial 3M velcro.. Crazy stuff.

Here's basically the first lap and a half around the track and then some interesting camera shots of the right side of my kart with it flying around....4 minutes total length out of ~15 it captured that race.

On the front straight it should be about 100mph at least in a draft. Maybe about 95 there. Certainly not the fastest class, but it sure is fun.

Now that looks like a ton of fun !!!
Too bad about the camera. Dont feel bad as possessions can always be replaced. They have video of these guys who went down in this underwater cave hundreds of feet down to retreive some bodies. These guys were super experienced divers and they just over exerted themselves and died as a result. The video from the camera showed it all except in that case the divers are DEAD.

Gran Turismo for me when I'm just messing around .. :P I hardly ever played mario kart actually. Anyhow, the displacement is 125cc, same as most shifter karts but only one speed on mine. CRG Kali 32mm chassis w/ a Parilla Leopard engine. Brand new the kart ran about just over $6k I think. They can be had used from between 3 and 4.

Found out what the velcro is called, just "dual lock velcro". Sticks really well but I guess I hit it wrong =(

BTW I used to listen to some MUSE, good music :D
