Speedo off

I have noticed that mine seemed to be a bit optimistic, I had my Dad follow me on the free way and on his Titan it said 71 while my car read 78! It thought it was the P185/14 60R tires since they are a little smaller than stock. Are E30's consistently off by 10%? That seems odd considering how well made the rest of the car seems to be.

185/60-14 tires are pretty far undersized. get the correct sized tires (for your year, 195/60-14) and it will still be a bit optimistic, but not that far.

FWIW, with brand new 225/50/15 tires (exactly stock diameter) my speedo is only off 3-4%. So at 260, it would be 7-10km/h (4-6mph).

Not that far off at all.
