i just got another traffic ticket the other day for an illigal u-turn. I was thinking about it and trying to decide what i should do.

So this is my decision... I can go to court, ask for a hearing and hope the cop doesn't show up. If he does show, do you think it would be worth it to ask the judge to reduce it to a lesser offence that wouldn't be a point on my records? I figure i will tell him honestly that i am a full time college student who will, in addition to taking a full load of classes at sonoma state university, will also be takin fire fighting courses at a local community college.

So you think there is a chance of getting it reduced? I figure, at the worst, the judge will just say no.

Fight it. Why was it illegal? Was there a sign or was it just close to an intersection or what? The worst thing that will happen is you'll have to pay it like you do now. You can only get it reduced :) I would ask to do community service or a traffic class to get no points on your license.

I would try and fight it for sure, you'll only pay what you have to pay or less. Try and convince them that the U-turn you did was done safely or something.

If you u-turned someplace where there was a no u-turn sign, it doesn't matter if George Bush and Ariel Sharon were with you and needed to make a bathroom stop, nobody's going to dismiss that. They might lower it a lesser offense, but what would that be? Thinking about making an illegal left turn? Unless you're a real smooth talker it's not going to be dismissed.

I'd say your best bet would be to go to the class to get it off your record. They might be willing to waive the cost of the class if you explain your schooling, but I don't know. The important thing is to get it off your record. Good luck man.

no shit, nobody takes responsibility for anything nowadays. quit making illegal turns and you wont get tickets. i drive like a fucking asshole but when i get caught i pay the ticket and hope i dont get caught for another year.
