    Honeymoon in California

    Hello all,
My soon to be wife and I are getting married and headed out to the west coast!
I'm here looking for some input on stops along our way down to San Diego From LA. We are playing our whole trip by ear, since we are always taking trip and seem to have the most fun this way! I use to live in NorCal back in the day so I know the northern culture pretty well, never been farther south than LA though. If you know of a place, park, beach, or just a great place to eat along the way down the 1 were all ears!

    thanks for your time!

    PS we like BEER

Go to Torrey Pines Glider Port for an AWESOME sunset spot. They litterally jump off the tall cliffs with gliders and it's adjacent to the PGA Torrey Pines golf course. The place is near La Jolla where, if you have money, is a great place to get world class food at an ocean view. Of course you can get that anywhere.

If you like beaches just pick any board walk (like in pacific beach, mission beach, ocean beach) and go down it and pick a spot. There's also Coronado beach (its huge and more quiet?) which you can visit Hotel Del Coronado with. I love chilling around PB if I want to get a bite or (water) drink with my friends after the beach. Torrey Pines for a more secluded time. There's even more great beaches up north but I don't venture up there.

You have to go to the millions of breweries that or top notch here. Ballast point in miramar is a great facility. Great tasting room with an off the wall restaurant. I've been sober for 7 years so others will have to jive in on that one.

Neighborhoods and places to go are Balboa to Hillcrest to Little Italy. Downtown SD has a great nightlife in the Gaslamp and the East Village. There's everything from hookah lounges, nightclubs, speak easy's, bars, restaurants, open air beer gardens there. There's a great bar on top of one of the mariots that's on the rooftop that overlooks downtown. Would recommend. Just be prepared to pay Cali prices for everything.

I grew up in this city and yet I still don't know of any 'great' spots and just wing it with my friends. Im getting awfully proud of it though. 20 years ago downtown was only business, porno theatres and tattoo parlors so what a difference!

If you want to do a little drive there's a little place called Julian where there's great scenery to which the destination will land you with some great pie. Not much else but its a calm kind of day. Everyone in SD does that at least once.

I hope you can enjoy my city as much as I do!

Crescent Bay and/or Diver's Cove in Laguna Beach is pretty cool if you want to do some snorkeling. They are tucked away just enough to not get super packed, free parking.

In case you wanted to stay the night in Laguna Beach, Crescent Bay Inn is affordable while still getting a nice ocean view (ask for it when you call, let them know the occasion).

I thought the tour at the Ballast Point brewery in Miramar was way more fun than the one at the Stone Escondido location. Although, the Stone Restaurant at Liberty Station was good and the beer garden at the Escondido brewery was very nice.

                  Just go to both breweries.
