Love 'em or Hate 'em: An Offical Saab thread?

I know these cars are loved or hated and since there is a Land Rover, a Porsche, Alfa, Toyota, 4x4, etc I figured why not a thread for Saabs. I also just happened to pick one up and since r3v is basically the only car forum I frequent why not go ahead and start one.

I know there were a few older threads about some Saab lovin' so I figure there might still be some members who frequent this site who also have/had a Saab.

I just picked up a 1992 900 3 door. Started life as an S, but a previous owner converted it to a turbo a few years ago. I'm in Virginia but this one spent its entire life in central Texas so NO RUST!!! This was kind of a "bucket list" car for me, not sure how long it will stay in the line-up as I tend to buy and sell cars often but I'll enjoy it while I have it. Not sure why this is a "bucket list" car for me, just always been attracted to their fun and quirky looks. I've been casually looking for years and this one popped up locally. Right off the bat I know its slave cyl is weak and leaking, I've got very little clutch. Otherwise its a very straight little runner.

SOOOOOOO, if you're a Sabb owner or fan post 'em up. I'll get it started with a few of mine.

Good find -- best of luck with it. Drove (and lusted after) a few 900 Turbos back in the day (I had owned the precursor 99 model upon which the 900 is based when I was in college) and considered buying one 20+ years ago but went with the E30 instead. Still would love to own a black-on-black, pre-'86 900T someday ....

Quirky, charming cars -- fun to drive and definitely an acquired taste to own. Congrats and enjoy!

The Sonnet is awesome. Before I knew very much about them a guy was selling one somewhat locally to me for a very good price. If only I had of known. It would be fun just to drive one of those two stroke motors.

After driving mine around all day today I must say that I'm totally charmed.

My wife drives an 06 9-3 Aero with the Turbo 2.8 and 6mt.

We got it for less than my Audi, and its been great. Had it for about 2 years now. Parts are hard to find but she loves the power and it has been completely reliable.

I just wish she would let me go Stage 1 with it.... Will post picture later.

There was one here in Nashville in the last 6 months for $1200 or so on cl. I talked myself out of it because I figured parts would be hard to source.

I've always been slightly intrigued by the saabs.

150k plus and still looks great. We will have this one until I can't keep it on the road any more. Once we upgrade her to an SUV, this will become my DD so the Audi can become the racecar it's meant to be.

I am selling my 03 9-5 aero. Nice car with lots of go faster parts on it. Loved it but needed a truck so got me a truck now selling the aero.

I'm a huge fan of saabs, though I've never owned one. A 900s is definitely a bucket list car for me too.

Here's my old 9000! I had the 2.3 non turbo. The car had all kinds of cool stuff. Didn't think I would ever drive a Saab but after buying it I felt like it was meant to be.

Did you feel that way about the Minivan, too?

9000's are really cool to me, I really like the Aero's. I also think it is cool that the early 9000's are just re-badged Lancia Deltas. As cool as I think they are, to me the looks of the 900 are just classic and timeless. Plus I like that that they come in two doors.
