    Blown Eardrums FTW!!!

Well, found out today that both my eardrums are blown. Going to see a specialist tomorrow to see if I need to have surgery or not and find out what's up.

Happened yesterday while lighting off a garbage bag sized Acetylene/Oxygen bomb. Lit the fuse and then BANG! it blew up right in front of me. Felt like someone slapped my across the face. The fuse actually got launched hard enough to whip me across the arm and I got melted plastic splatter on my arm and face. I also burnt a bunch of hair off my knee and one arm. None of this however hurt much at all. The worst is the damn ringing in my ears that kept me up all night. Oh well, at least I'm alive with all my limbs. :)

Hey Brew, how about we chill the fuck out on insulting members of my family? Like you or anyone else never did stupid shit that got you hurt when you were a kid. Yeah, I'm sure you weren't blowing up garbage bags full of flammable gasses, but ease the fuck up a little.

Andy, I just called and talked to your Dad, he told me all about it. The important thing is that you're ok, and didn't get hurt any worse.

I would have thought that blown ear drums would make you deaf.

nope. the eardrum (or tympanic membrane if you will) merely amplfies the sound and assists in converting waves into electrical pulses.

I remember lighting a firecracker in my garage as a kid. I thought I went deaf it rung so bad. I remember running upstairs and going to sleep.

                  I was like 9.

Hope it works out for the good for you man.

                  Sold it.

That reminds me of the first time my old man took me to the shooting range when I was 8 or 9 and I got to squeeze off some rounds from his hunting rifles (30-30 and 270 IIRC). No ear plugs so I paid the price that day....still probably doesn't quite compare to your 'event' yesterday.

I hope things improve for ya. Be good 8)

                              "LOUD NOISES"

Yea, ive learned to always carry earplugs with me in my pocket. We dyno our race cars in our shop, maybe 10ft from where i work. Its louder than shit at WOT and 900 hp with about 2 ft of exhaust...

Acetylene/Oxygen is dangerous, but im sure you knew that ;-). I stay away from it, after blowing out a few windows accross the street at a friends house....good luck
