    Funky BMW F1 Aero Bits

First was that twin-keel config from a couple years ago....now they're giving this idea a shot. It says its to help direct airflow over the car....much like the winglets Renault has been using only this is a more extreme example. Discuss.

Cool. In a few years I think F-1 will have crossed the line where there are so many ugly little aero bits that as a whole it looks really cool.

Interesting. I'm sure if the aero starts looking too ugly, stricter regulations will follow. I'd like to see what areas of the car they're trying to direct airflow towards(/away from).

My first thought was that they were trying to smooth airflow into the air intake...if it's less turbulent below it (hypothetically in my world) will venturi into the air intake.

          lol diffusers.

about regulations: why doesnt f1 just require teams to use bathtubs and get it over with? :(

            FIA doesn't need Nascar...

            Jon,

Perhaps it is just me but I was taught to change one thing (one minor thing) at a time while 'racing'. It keeps the errors down. I know the F1 engineers and mechanics are the top of the class but the cars are ever changing. The drivers are sometimes happy with their new nose job, while others are not. Factor in that different drivers use different skills, all these aero changes may be useless (in a sense). Then factor in again with how many different compounds of tires they have too. But I guess that is the fight between just enough mechanical grip and aero grip..eh

They just introduce the nose for the France GP right? Am I understanding correctly that BMW/SA has not tested the new nose other than Kubica practice runs? (or probably wind tunnel?)

Either way I am up at 6:35am and waiting for the race to start....

You guys pay attention to any FIA WTCC? Eurosport has whole races online to view... you want to see racing? That is what I call close racing.

Gives JV an excuse to why he performed so poorly; 'These winglets were blocking my view, then so and so cut me off and threw off my rythm. If not for them, i would of won the race'

I hate JV, and now with Montoya gone, i can focus all my hatred on one guy.
