Guys who live in big cities, a question...

Does your car ever get fucked with when you park it? Do you have a garage you put it in or do you leave it on the street overnight.

I might be living in SF or NYC for grad school and was wondering about the conditions the car would be subjected to.

I live in a nice part of LA so I've never had any experience with vandals or malcontents.

    Thanks.

I have lived in both places and can say without hesitation S.F. is way safer than NYC for street parking.

In NYC you are lucky to get a space on the street within 10 blocks of home. (double that around Columbia (horrible area) or NYU (marginally better) In NYC parking costs upwards of 10k per year (per space) so unless you are rich forget about that.

SF is a safer place for certain - only down side is that parking is scarce in "the City". Off-street parking can be found but it comes with a price. Nice thing about SF is the relatively mild weather year-round. Your car won't take too much of a beating from mother nature if its left out in the elements.

Ten large for parking? I've never liked that city anyway...

It is a great city (as is S.F.) if you plan on driving from home to work you need two spaces, the minimum price being 200.00 per month, per space. (prices go up to over a grand a month in really nice areas)

              Check this out for comparison:

Use BestParking to book parking spaces in cities like Chicago & New York, as well as airport parking, stadium & event parking, or daily & monthly parking.

The thing is in the city, the nicer the car, the more damage it will get from people. No one cares about a shitty car, but if it is nice, you are toast.

NYC street parking FTL. Suck it up and pay for parking. Street parking = vandals, bumper bashers and ding fest overall.

i live just outside of minneapolis, but travel into minneapolis and saint paul daily for work

i always park in a somewhat safe looking parking lor or garage, yet about a month ago someone decided to key my car for no reason whatsoever while i was at work one day

luckily for me it wasnt deep and buffed right out

Ive lived in L.A. all my life and Ive been/parked in some extremely shady neighborhoods in my less-law-abdiing days. Never had my car fucked with unless I went to go look for trouble. Miracle really.

Thats because you were a kingpin, and everyone knew what you drove and not to fuck with it.

Kidding, but hey how are you feeling? That thread gets bumped alot, you should at least post telling everyone your status. UBERJACK.

Anyways, D.C. is tough to park in, but I've never had a problem with ding/vandals/ etc...

                              ATL FTL!

This is what happened to my car the day I got to my moms house. This is in a high end neighborhood in Lawrenceville. Just on the North side of Atlanta.

Some kids went around in their car throwing bricks at parked cars. They got 3 of us in there in one night. Sad thing is I herd it and thought it was to cold for kids playing games. It was Christmas week. Like 10 deg outside.

                              FUCKERS!

Other than that nothing really happens in Atlanta as long as your not downtown or on the South side. But tons of traffic.

Funny is I now live in Miami and I can leave my doors unlocked at night and I have never had anyone mess with my car.
