    dorm roomate decision

I just moved into a dorm at UT austin. Small, 1 room 2 bed configuration.

I just got a random roomate. He's cool, not an idiot or complete nerd as far as I can tell.

But I've got a friend who's also going to UT, and he wants to room together (he says his roomate is lame or something). He's a cool kid, I've known him since middle school and we get along. So, the question for all you college kids is...

Should I room with my HS friend or keep with my new random roomate?

      Same here, Random roomate.
Living with friends especially in small dorms can change alot of things.
I speak from experience. My best friend moved in with me and after a month we couldnt stand each other.

Someone said (I paraphraze) You never really know someone until you live with them.

Given a choice between sleeping in my car and having a roomate, it would have to be a really nice house before I'd think about it. I had lots of roomates and after my last in 1982 I swore I'd live alone until I got married.

If you are ok with the random guy I'd leave it alone.

That's what I've heard from a couple of my friends, I was just seeing if you guys had the same experience.

College isnt supposed to just be high school with more drinking. Keep the random roomate and experience some new people for a change.

I live at school in an apartment with 2 of my best friends whom i've known since i was 14 or younger, and we havn't killed each other yet. In fact, i'd say we might even be better friends. Things have been worked out if there are problems, and now things are working pretty smoothly. Maybe i'm just too content with the status quo - but it has a lot of advantages. Not the least of which is the fact that i don't have to worry about my shit being stolen/broken/jacked ect.
