whoever says etas aren't fun to drive doesn't know what they're talking about...

i loved the eta for my first car (and only still) and i honestly don't even want to switch to an i motor because i love my eta so much. any e30 is a fun car to drive

you could also maybe look at an m10...you know that will be pretty slow and then you can learn about working on those too...it'll be a learning expwerience for the both of you

man, i sure do wish my first car was my current 89 325i. i first had a 1990 Bronco II, then i had a 1993 Camaro 6 banger, then i paid out the ass for a 2000 Lincoln LS. i sure could have had a really nice e30 by now.......

Eta's are fun, way different than an 'I' in my opinion. My friend had a 325e for his first car and then swapped out to an 'I' motor, and he always said that he kinda missed the 'e'.

That's awesome Josh. I didn't even know you had a little bro. You know you got a few guys up north to check cars out for him up here. Just let us know when he is ready for us to start looking.

I late model 318is wouldn't be a bad car either. That way he gets the plastic bumps too. ;)

I was actually going to suggest that. A late mod 318iS is a good compromise between a 325eS and a 325iS, the better gas mileage won't kill the wallet, plus they get all the goodies of the 325eS plus all the advantages of post-facelift cars.

You know, technically, your daughter/son would be the next generation. Your brother, even with the age difference, is still the same generation as you. ;)

It's cool that he wants and E30. We shall need to start looking.

My bro is 25 now and his first BMW was a 1987 325e. He ended up getting an '01 WRX but he kept the 325 just so I could have a car when I was able to drive so my first car was an 87 325e that was free (to me). I loved that car and thats how I got started in the BMW thing, my brother :) I'm sure he is proud of me for learning so much and taking after him. I'm not sure if he knows it but he is a big influence in what I do with my car and what kind of newer cars I like. I bet your brother looks at you the same way Josh.

0-60 in ~7 seconds and a 15 second quarter mile is pretty fast for a new driver.

wish I could have gotten my siter into an E30, instead she has a POS thunderbird that runs like ass. try convicing a girl to like a box shaped car though..

That's true. But it sounded cooler this way. :D

I got him registered on the site, he's our newest member, Captain Klaus. I'll talk to him later and have him make an introductory post. He's really excited about getting one, and getting to know everyone on the site, especially all the PNW guys.

I'm sure he does. He's very much like I was at his age, we're into the same kinds of things, and we have very similar personalities.

I got my first car at 14, an 88 sentra that needed work. By 15 1/2 I finished the sentra, and picked up my 325i (motor needed rebuild, t-belt failure)

At 16 I finished my e30, got my license, sold the sentra, and never looked back.

I wish I could just convince my brother to get a job (I've held jobs continuously since 8th grade) cause even though I'll help him mod, funding is his problem :P
