So you thought the Z06 was fast? GM has confirmed a mid-engined, DOHC, supercharged Corvette SS. Heres a little article with some pictures. The car pictured is a c6 Z06 test mule with the new motor. http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...ad.php?t=63503. Enjoy.

i tend to agree with this vette guy
I'm not overly impressed by it...besides, once you add the "market adjustment" to the proposed $100,000 sticker, you're looking at somewhere in the $130,000 range. Which, if GM continues to use the cheap plastic interior and non supportive crappy seats, it's a total ripoff. You can get a C6 to 650 HP and have a ton of money left over. Hardly a working man's car.sigpicComment

I guess we will just have to wait and see everything it has to offer. The Z06 just barely missed supercar status I think. Don't get me wrong its my dream car but I cant put it at supercar level with lambos and such. I think GM is really taking advantage of the z06's fame and they are gonna go all out with this one. I really wouldn't be surprised if we saw something with ferrari styling/interior and porsche performance.Comment

Both key points to why the Vette will never reach supercar status. I just about creamed my pants when I saw the new performance numbers for the current z06, but after some time it really just doesnt seem all that awesome when a redneck down the road thinks hes an equal with you cause he drives a mid 80's shitbox vette. The janitor at my school drives a vette. That really killed the dream for me.Back to my roots

I'll believe it when I see it. I seriously doubt GM would take a stock Z06, drop a motor in it and call it a "SS" model. It has stock Z06 badges on it for Christ sake. Plus, if it was so secretive, they would have had it camouflaged. While I do believe they are making a super-fast version, I don't think that is it.Comment

I agree 100%. I think GM is going for a different market with the new SS though. Both key points to why the Vette will never reach supercar status.
