yea i think thats what happend... i think the weight of the trailer completely manipulated the touring...

now i understand why they didnt want to rent one to my pops...we wanted to trail the e30 with a 2001 tacoma

Weight on the hitch lifts the front of the vehicle. Probably too much tongue weight. That trailer probably outweighed the car, and without modifiying your rear suspension to handle the extra weight, problems ensued. The only hope that driver had of preventing that was to scrub speed the moment the trailer started to sway.

If you've ever driven a tractor with a heavy mower on the back and no counterweights on the front, the same thing happens, mad understeer. Fortunately, most tractors have IRWB, so you can just steer with the drive axle.

Same problem with the old ford 14 passenger vans with the extended section behind the rear wheels. In certain circumstances there wouldn't be enough weight on the front wheels and you'd understeer way more.
