    LCD monitor issue

    Hi,

My LCD computer monitor went completely black this week. When I restart the computer the image appears for a second and then everything goes black. I did some reading on the internet and the information I found leads me to believe it's the CCFL bulbs or the inverter board. I'm leaning toward the CCFL bulbs because if I shine a really bright flashlight onto the screen I can see the image very lightly.

What I'm wondering is, is this worth fixing and is it difficult? It's a really nice monitor and had no issues until this. I wish I could afford a new LCD but I can't right now (too soon after Christmas) so I just have an old CRT that I'm using.

    Thanks!

in a last ditch effort, try powering the monitor, and then pull the power plug from the monitor while it is powered. It has fixed my screen a couple times, although not the same problem. it's like a raw reset wake up call for it or something

Have you verified its not a video feed problem by switching in a different monitor or plugging your monitor into a different computer? You never no what a bad video card will do and that's a free troubleshooting step.

wait, so are you saying the problem persists when using a different monitor?

If so, then your "hard where" issue is the video card.

probably just the CCFL bulb. this happened to me on an older LCD, but I never thought about it and figured it was dead so I tossed it out. later I realized it was probably just the bulbs..

NO No the old CRT works fine. when I power on the LCD it flashes on for a second the out even on a difrent comp the LCD is the problem. I put a bright flash light up to the screen an I can see the image close to it. There for, for some unknown reason the screen is not back lighting after inital power up (black screen) is there a balast or something in these things.
