    Fraudulent paypal transfer

Fuckin paypal fraud. Someone from tiger direct made a $627 purchase on my account. I called up paypal and they said that if my personal email account is the same password as my paypal password, it's likely that they can easily infiltrate into my account. FYI.

For those of you who don't know tiger direct, they are a computer warehouse. I called them up and they said they had a purchase from me but put an immediate stop shipment on it bc it wasn't going to my confirmed address, so they suspected something's up too.

I filed a complaint with paypal, who by the way froze my account already b/c they found suspicious activity.

Anybody have this happen to them before? Do I have a good chance of getting my money back?

Yeah, it's not a good idea to have the same password for all your accounts- especially one that has $$$$$ associated with it.

I haven't had this particular problem with Paypal, but it seems that it's not really a Paypal problem- it's a problem that someone stole your password, and if I understand correctly- it was someone from Tiger direct- so I'd go to them and make them explain what they are going to do.

Also, don't waste much of your time Emailing Paypal, get on the phone and CALL them, and if the first person you speak with doesn't have the ability to help you, ask to speak to their supervisor (politely). I've spoken to some complete idiots at Paypal who know less about their policies and procedures than I do- but I've also spoken to some folks that were very helpful and solved my problem quickly.

    Good luck.

    Bret

EDIT: why would Tiger Direct have access to your password in the first place????? Are you SURE this isn't some other sort of scam?

Tiger Direct has no access. It's not them who made the transaction. It turns out that someone had gotten my password to paypal, hacked into my account and made a purchase to them to have shipped to a different address completely. Either way i've filed a claim with paypal and will get my money back. Hopefully sooner than later.

Then what i'll do is go up to buffalo and get this fuckin guy Ted J. sylvia who resides at 190 orlando road in buffalo, ny 14210. And I will beat the shit out of him.

I've all but completely stopped using Paypal. I stick to my debit card and good old fashioned money orders. Fuck Paypal and all their fees. Fuck them right in the ear.

Yeah, so do i, but when you make a purchase, you can either deduct it from ur checking acct or take it from your paypal stash or even take it from a credit card. If they can hack into your account, then they can fuck with your bank account also.

7+ years I've had a paypal account and never a single problem. how do you guys managed to get screwed so often?

I'm wondering if you didn't fall for one of those phishing schemes. either way somebody got your password, it must have been either easy to guess or you gave it to them. not paypals fault at all..

I've met very few people who have the ability to come up with a good password. I don't see why people use 4 or 5 character words for passwords. You need to use uppercase and lowercase, letters and numbers when possible, and the longer the better. If you write it down, and use it more then 15-20 times, you'll remember it. If you don't use it that often, then what does it matter if you have to read off of a paper every time to remember it?

Not saying this was the problem here, but it seems people always get screwed for having "easy" passwords.
