It is actually rediculously easy to fit the M42 into the E21. We are going to have to custom build motor mounts, and awiring harness adapter.

One of the biggest challenges is going to be a speed sensor... Since in the E30 it is coming from the diff, and on the E21 it comes from the trans. Hmmmmm

Any insight from anyone? Jurgen what are your plans to deal with this in the 02?

Well, the M42 gets 35mpg in an E30, and makes enough power...

Ive got a buddy up here making a turbo kit for M42s, so this car may end up being a showcase vehicle for that.

      who knows

        My plans: http://hem.passagen.se/m2002tii/tech...anny/index.htm

Im not sure its going to help you any though.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

I know with the 02 guys they run a 323 (e21) tranny when they swap in the m20.

I believe they have to weld the sensors into the bellhousing.

That's for the S14 swap with the e21 tranny

It looks like you can adapt a G260 to use the cable speedo drive.
