Yes, we used to be the murder capitol of the world but now I think we are somewhere around 13th or 14th place in the nation. That's still pretty high but murders went down tremendously over the last 6 to 7 years. Also, when the snipers were on the loose, all other crime came to a screeching halt. They were running around the area for about a month and a half and during that time, nobody was getting killed, nobody was getting robbed and there were hardly any other forms of non-violent crime going on.

As far as I know, there is no law against having a knife in DC. They just won't allow you to take into any federal gov't building. You could probably take it into a few of the D.C. government buildings but the federal buildings won't allow it.

wow RCwells, I am never f/n with you, that thing looks vicious hehe..

I just picked up a keltech 9mm to take with me to Texas when I move...

Is keltech a good brand? I got it from my cousin, who is a long time cop and he used it as his personal...It's really light weight, and has more kick than my noob ass to guns would have thought.

Nice "Bushy" RCWells, I own an Armalite. Very accurate and reliable. The great thing about AR-15's are all the accessories you can buy (if you can afford it). Not to mention the reliability of parts and a proven design. They also remind me of my time in the Army.
Jscotty, I often read/hear the statistics of the crime rate in the D.C. area. I believe it is consistently near the top in murder rates. Friends have told me not to have a small knife, or even a round of ammo in my car if I travel near that area, or you risk being arrested.

    Imagine the following scenario:
Robber #1: "Hey, lets go get a gun and rob a bank."
Robber #2: "We can't! Don't you know that guns are illegal?"
Robber #1: "Oh yeah.. that's right. Lets go play Bingo instead!"

Here in Washington DC we have a COMPLETE ban on guns and the result is that only the criminals are permitted to have guns. And gun crimes are so common that if you sit in the courts and hear the cases, sometimes they will never bring up the fact that they had illegal posession of a gun. They might get nailed for armed robbery.. but they dont get charged separately for posessing the weapon. And now along comes Mr. Goody 2 Shoes Law Abiding Citizen who happens to have a gun in his car because he drove over the state line from Maryland on his way home from the shooting range and crossed through the city to avoid a traffic jam. Cops pull him over, find the LICENSED gun on him and now he is facing 15 years for illegal gun posession.

But when I hear bullets being shot off in the distance while on the street, I never see the cops running towards the noise to investigate who has a gun in their posession. Also when I see some of the drug dealers on the street flaunting their jacket pocket or they may lift up their shirt so people can see it wedged between their belt so that everyone KNOWS that they have a gun yet the cops drive right on by and nobody does anything about it.

He, he. Modded as in "semi-automatic to automatic"?

That rifle looks nice. Is that a repro or a modern day M16? With the front handle, it kinda looks like a Thompson machine gun from the 1930's. I don't like/need gun but still recognize the beauty of an object.

Enjoy the bushmaster. Although with the price of .223 these days you'll quickly pay for the gun again in ammo.

I picked up 500rounds of 7.62x39 at a show last weekend and it cost me 90 dollars. Certainly a far cry from the 110-120 for 1000 rounds a few years ago.
