I probably would have blamed the border guard for stealing my stash.

      Border Guard: "What stuff?"

      1. How does the airbag pop out of that little plastic BMW logo?
      2. Lug nuts and lug bolts? Its the same thing.
      3. That button on the [lighted] key is for locking the doors.
      4. 4 cylinder cars have 4 bolt wheels while the 6-cylinder cars have 5 bolts.
      5. There is something wrong with your back seat. It does not fold down the way it does in my Toyota.
      6. Where did you get that nifty toolkit? And how did you get it to fit so well under the trunk lid?

        Did you keep the AWD?
Why didn't you use an RB25 Transmission?

I've probably been asked these two questions more times than i can remember.

for you guys who keep getting the FWD comments, try convincing somebody that your car really is AWD, when high centered on a snowbank and needing their help getting you unstuck! I mean, what on earth is a BMW doing out in the snow anyway?

that, and the assumption that the ix is faster because it's awd. hah!

I had the tow truck guy who was loading my latest parts car onto his rig tell me -- as he was under the car looking for where to hook up his winch - that the car was FWD.

When I told him I had owned more than one of these and was certain it was RWD, he sais I had to be wrong, because the car did not have a solid rear transaxle.

I've had the usual "Is that an M3?" multiple times. and when we still owned our '90 M3, I always got the "Where'd you get that widebody kit?"

I've gotten all of the usual e30 M3 stuff from people...

                        What body kit is that??
                        It can't have a 4cyl, its an M3?!?!
                        They didn't make M3s in 1990.

I'm going OT here with this quote. But i had a 1967 Dodge Coronet Deluxe. It had a 360 with a six pack in it, it sounded like it had a big block in it. But i was at a car show and it mainly had vettes at it but other cars was welcome to. I had the 67 Hemi S/S scoop on it with hemi on the side of the scoop. The vette people was looking at it saying (so that's what a hemi looks like). So i said no that's a small block 360. I was begining to wonder if they even knew what was under the hood on their vette's.

-How did you get your hood to do that? (flip forward)
                              -No cupholders? (nope)
-I like the way you mounted the radar detector (check panel)
-Why don't you put an m3 motor in it? (why, are you going to buy it for me?)

-I get 4 cylinder, FWD a lot too!
