I'm all for a good horror movie, but the hills have eyes was disgusting. Not in a hostel or saw sort of way either. I'm not one who ever gets sick to my stomach. But if you've seen it you would agree with me they went to far when some of the hill people went into the rv. That was just wrong to be thrown into the movie to make it more intense. When I saw the preview the sequel I said, "You've got to be fucking kidding."

I'd like to see more horror movies have something a little more to them.

Has anyone noticed that more and more movies look like 90 minutes versions of those 2 minutes cut scenes from video games? Flashy and empty. "300" is about the best expression of that trend. Except that a 90 minute video game cut scene can be looooooong and boring. It takes more than CGI and special effects to make a story.

As I said, Aja is a sick fuck. If you've watched the unrated DVD, it goes further. Go watch "High Tension" some time, it's an earlier film he did, all in french. Dude has an evil side to him.

the movie industry has always been full of flashy and empty movies where the 2 min trailer basically shows all the good parts of the movie. But there's still good movies comin out... go see the Zodiac, you wont be disappointed. Dont go to late though cause its long... I went to a 10:xx pm showing and didnt get out till past 1am

There seem to be a few great actors in "Zodiac". BTW I still like action flicks like "Bourne identity" and others, but I enjoy when my brains are titillated.

Lately, I saw "Flags of our fathers", "Alpha Dog", "Black Dahlia", " Blood Diamonds", "Hollywood Land", "Apocalypto" (great movie that left me shocked for a few days - yes, you really experience what death feels) and have not been deceived. I watch about 10 movies per week and sometimes, some are soooo bad that it takes me 10 minutes to go over them with the fast forward button. Just like "Sublime". Not that it was a bad movie, but it did not have any asperity on which to hang on too. Movies was also full of clichés. The only thing I remember is the beautyfull nurse (Paget Webster). Damn she's soooo sexy.

holy crap. I HATED this movie. SO BAD. I wanted to write a letter to hollywood. yes..to hollywood...and tell them it was the worst movie I'd ever seen. I was just pissed off at the end of it when he died. I wanted the FBI or something to come and kill everyone.

ya know the part when he calls his friend and actually gets signal for like 2 seconds? I figured that meant he would be rescued. NOPE! it had nothing to do with anything!

when they broke his legs I THOUGHT the helicopter or something would be flying in soon to save him or something. But he actually died?! that's not supposed to happen!!11!

Is Alpha Dog any good? I still need to see Apocalypto. Blood Diamonds was amazing and Black Dalia was very good as well. Hollywood Land was good but I wasn't to crazy bout it.

Go rent the original, much better ending - a lot more of a trip.

I like that too, but this movie was just fucking stupid, the 1/2 the plot is just random bullshit that has nothing to do with the movie. Throughout the entire thing I thought it was one of those "figure it out" movies like you said, but its not at all.

Anyways, I just realized this thread got 3 pages lol, haven't been on my computer for a while.

Nicolas Cage has gone WAY fucking downhill in the past years, I lose respect for him. Plus hes turning into a nut job with the whole Elvis obsession, I bet it spanks it to Elvis pictures.

LUCKY I didn't spend a dime on this movie, I stole it from my parents when they netflixed it, I think I am just going to burn the DVD and save another poor soul from the trouble. Its probably worth the $15 fine

"Apocalypto" should have deserved a few awards in many aspects. I can tell you that there are several strong and graphic moments in the movie. It is very "raw" and it feels real. After that movie, you know how a beef feels in a slaughter house. No need to say more. It is also a great flick about native nations and how they lived in religious fear just before getting extinct.

If you liked "Blood Diamonds" you will like the "Constance of the Gardener" based on a novel from John LeCarré about the drugs industry in South Africa. Rachel Weiss and Ralph Fienes are excellent. After that movie, you will not preceive the pharmaceutical industry the same way.

"The good German" and "The good Shepperd" were also good movies about the end of World War II and how Europe was divided into segments betweeen the conquerors, especially "A good German" with George Clooney and the beautyfull Cate Blanchet. In the same line of "historic" movies, there was a remake from a 1958 movie based on a 1953 novel about the period in Indochina when the French were on there way out (they did not know it yet) and the American were on their way in (they sure knew what they were doing). It is called "A quiet American" with Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser. That movie shows the motivation of the US governement in those days. Even 50 years after the defeat of the Dien Bien Phu battle, french veterans still do not understand why they never got help from the US army as they were stationned nearby. In fact, it was clear that the US wanted a French defeat to take over and do things their way...
