Take a look at this, for sure it's a repost, but it shows in images what most are talking about.

That guy was not driving very good at all, he could have easially shaved a few seconds off if he would have just kept the back end in.

All I know is that my ix understeered massively compared to my 318is.

Ah, but with an m42, there is no such thing as power oversteer.

            HAHAHAHA.

            Just kidding.

Under/oversteer can easily be tuned into/out of a suspension. Sure, stock most cars will be set up for understeer, but that doesn't mean it can't be dialed out with spring rates or sway bar tuning.

well, the VC in your rear diff was fried, your struts were blown, and your front swaybar was broken off. soo... :p

anyone want to try my -4 degrees of front camber and see if they can get it to understeer on dry pavement? :)

I am sure all that rust didn't help much esp on the spring perches..

By the time you got my car it had been totalled. All that stuff mustve happened during the accident, cause less than a month prior the whole car went over and any repairs it needed were done. It did have rust, but thats what NE does to a car.

I dont doubt that an ix with a decent suspension would handle better than my 225k stock one, but still, they do understeer a bit more.

Right now I have falcons in the front and federals in the back; I have to try to get my car to understeer.

I don't think your wheel falling off caused the front swaybar links to rust off, the rear shocks to wear out and the VC in the rear diff to fry. sorry...

Considering the car was towed away from the accident on a dolly not a flatbed? That probably sent the vc out. Sway bar links got fucked when the car lost its wheel, I know that for a fact as the car was inspected literally two weeks before, it wouldnt have passed if the sway bar wasnt fine. Shocks couldve been bad and my mechanic missed, but that was over a year ago. Car also dragged itself on the front suspension for a good 30 feet after the wheel fell off, that can do some damage as well. Either way, you bought a totalled car that then proceeded to sit in a impound lot for months cause you couldnt get it shipped. Dont know what else they did to the car to fuck it up, but I sold you the car with all the info I knew. Either way, doesnt change the fact the car was running fine before the accident, and still understeered. I stand by that statement. Im not saying yours doesnt, but it also has some serious work done to its suspension as well.

the VC in the rear diff? sorry, no. that would have fried the VC in the transfer case.. not the rear diff. and the VC in the TC was just fine. a dolly won't hurt the ix.

it was obvious that the swaybar link had been rusted off for a long time. I'm not trying to hate on you, but I'm not an idiot. your car was just not what I would consider a benchmark to compare other cars with.

My bad, I thought you were talking about the transfer case. I had always heard a dolly was bad for an ix though... Ill agree my car wasnt the nicest either, but it was never going to be that. Really dont know about the sway bars though man, those were good to go the last time I was under the car. Its all good.
