Institutional raciscm prevalent in today's society? Is that sort of like how there's black colleges, but if there were white colleges, that would be racist? Or how there's black entertainment television, but if there was white entertainment television, that would be racist? Actually the correct term is HBC or historically black college. Do you know why there were black colleges? Up until the 1960's if you were black you couldn't get into the other colleges in those regions, it's as simple as that. In the last 40 years a lot has changed and these institutions are no longer "black only".

You ever heard of country music television, how about the golf channel (minus eldrick)? ;-) BET is actually partially owned by white people. My point is that there are plenty of networks out there where you wont see one black person on it. How about telenovia?

solid point. I know many people who are lazy and always look for the easiest way out like water finds the path of least resistance. They are of all sorts and shapes and colors, but my black friends do this a lot. Of course, rich white friends are lazy too, but know they don't need to be hardworking since their parents will bail them out. A good number of black people I know seem to accept their situation and don't care to work hard to improve it.

How many people are decended from a family who has always had it easy? About no one. American revolution and manifest destiny wasn't easy. But they didn't bitch much, just worked hard. People giving up all they have to move here, and worked hard. Many many years ago, there were slaves... ok. Time to step up and work hard to put yourself where you [people who complain] want... right, stop bitching.

I think too many expect hand-outs these days, of all genders and colors. Fuck them, you must rise to your own destiny.

edit: there are success stories of people coming from the projects, getting on their education while working and on student council and get on 21st century scholars, and end up doing well. maybe, just maybe, it was because they worked hard to improve themselves instead of sitting and bitching about how they are black and they can't help themselves

The "hand-out" mentality was started by the government and the rich big business owners. Poor people did not wake up one day and decide that they were owed something until someone told them.

In a capitalist society such as ours, ANYONE can become a millionaire regardless of race, religion, culture, and nationality. The few people who posess the money, the power, and the influence in the world would rather remain small in numbers. So they would rather give poor people hand-outs to keep them from being motivated enough to do better for themselves. Because once a poor person gets sick of being poor, he will do almost anything to change that. HOWEVER, take that same poor man, give him money, food, shelter, and anything else he wants, he will remain dependent on his "assistance".

Its well worth it for a rich person to give a poor community 4-6% of his money in order to discourage them from starting a multi-million dollar corporation themselves. And being that the rich people own many of the businesses that the poor people patronize, they get all of the money back anyhow. Social programs is what keeps rich and powerful people in their position because nobody else will be motivated to do better.

Republican and Democratic politicians BOTH profit on the welfare system even though they always appear to be at odds over the issue.

Secondly, i totally agree with your points on mainfes destiny and the american revolution. but those same revolutionaries who fought for their independance did so with the help of slaves. it was slave labor that harvested the lands and built up the towns and allowed the white owners the freedom and ability to devote so much attention towards their own emancipation.

i never claimed to be helpless and you are right there HAVE been countless success stories. i am merely pointing out that the odds are against us and situations like this where people are saying its no big deal or grow thicker skin are attempting to make it as though it is unuimprtant. In response to the use of slaves to help build up the towns etc. There will always be some class of cheap labor being used to get something done at the lowest Cost. I outsource IT shit to India Day and night to get the job done for dirt cheap. What is your point? I need something and there is a quick, cheap, and easy way to get it done.
