how about a book titled "how to not be offended"?
everyone in this world is so easily offended and its getting to the point where nobody can voice an opinion on anything anymore. we have become a dull sterile boring society where everyone has to worry about hurting someone elses feelings. fuck that. im sensitive to others feelings in real life but i refuse to be politically correct. i react to people no matter what color they are. treat me with respect and ill do the same to you. i hate angry pissed off black males who have that attitude. you know who i mean. that doesnt mean i hate blacks. i give everyone an equal chance. i dont know what color you are and i dont care.
i didnt have a privileged childhood so please dont tell me i dont know what others have gone through. 50 - 100 years ago blacks were treated like shit but thats not the case anymore. in many ways they have an advantage. in others they dont. i feel sorry for the ones growing up in the hood with single mothers and no chance for a decent education. racism will never go away. too bad but it wont.Comment

From my experiance, racism is alive and well in many parts of the country. Around my area, it doesn't exist. Bigotry doesnt really exist around here for many reasons. For one, Massachusetts is a melting pot of all different nationalities, races, and religions. In this area, if you are bigoted and racist, you are really looked down upon. Same thing with me being gay, I have family in Iowa, and from what I am told, noones would understand it or accept it out there b/c its sooo against their religion and conservative upbringing. Whereas in Massachusetts, tolerance was never an option- you have to be tolerant of all others, and live with each other peacefully.
When I was in the Army, though, I knew of more than one instance where a black soldier from the deep south wanted something, or a favor, etc. When I said no, I am busy right now, he went to the seargant and said that I was racist, and wouldnt help him b/c he's black. Etc. I was shocked, as I was never used to actually seeing racism in action, but I quickly realized that in the south, they still genuinely hate each other, and they both are at swords ends. It was a weird thing to me. In my opinion, racism is alive and well in many parts of the country. Bigotry is too, and there is always plenty of that, too.01 325Ci

We got a newspaper somewhere around here from the 1840'-1850's IIRC. And there is land in there for sale and it came with a horse, house, #of acres, and a niggress. It was strange to see that in there but Maryland was a slave state.

Actually this is not reverse racism. Racism includes the notion of superiority or supremacy, that is the fundamental component of racism. This is not present in this situation. It IS a double-standard though, they exist in our society in many forms. When a man has sex with many women he's considered a stud, if a woman does the same she's considered a slut....double-standard.
