So I want to by a grill...

I know nothing about grill's, but it's summer time and I want to cook out. It has to be cheap and fairly small, as I'm going to be getting an apartment soon and it will go with me.

Tell me what you know - what not to get, things to avoid, whatever. Just simple cooking - burgers and chicken and stuff, no fancy stainless steel $1500 grills needed.

Are they all basically the same or what?

EDIT: fuckin non-edit-able titles. BUY a grill not BY a grille.

Weber's charcoal and kettle grills give your BBQ the perfect smoky flavor. Shop Weber's large selection of charcoal BBQ grills and light up your cookouts.

Doesn't get much cheaper and simpler than that. Beats the hell out of the 15-20 dollar wal-mart specials.

Expand upon the classic Kettle with the Performer series. Prep on the side table, ignite the charcoal, and enjoy the performance. Built for the everyday griller.

This is what I'm going to get when I can convince myself that it's a good idea to spend 300 bucks on a charcoal grill.

Get a habatchi! That is about the smallest, cheapest grill that you could ever own and it works great! Its easy to store and easy to clean up. If you want to get any cheaper and easier than that, get a couple of cinder blocks, a couple of those aluminum foil baking pans and then take the baking rack out of your oven. TADA! Instant grill! Easy cleanup and its relatively cheap! The most expensive thing in this setup is the charcoal.

You looking for a charcoal or gas? My dad bought a little portable charcoal grill from home depot/lowes and he puts on a table outside his apartment and it works great. We have been using it for years. Probably post under 30 bucks. I know personally I want to find a nice smaller gas grill because I am impatient. I am also looking for a grill for my apartment that I am moving into in September. I will keep an eye on this thread.

That little Weber is great! Especially if all you do is grill every now and then and put it away, it's a lot easier to stow a compact charcoal grill than a big honking stainless steel unit. Also if you want to bring the grill anywhere, it's a lot easier to move around to have a cookout at the park or beach.

get a weber great quality for the price(plus I am from where they are made), and make sure you get a charcoal grill, cause- gas grills are for women, and non BBQ ers.
dousing everything with beer on a flaming charcoal grill is what its all about!!!!! gas grills dont have the true "BBQ" taste IMO. and I BBQ usually atleast twice a week in the summer.

Well, I wanted a gas grill, but I guess I'll be a bitch if I do that.

So how much of a PITA is it to use a charcoal grill? Doesn't it take a lot longer? I want somehting that lets me come home and whip some dinner together in a 1/2 hour or so.

I feel like a newb at being a guy, not knowing this shit. I've just never had time to "grill" (full time job since I was 15, plus full time bachelors degree in 3 years = no time for anything, only mcdonalds/wendys).
