Im gonna have to disagree with you there. I know a ton more about this topic from both sides of the fence than anyone here. Ive been around lots of people of these circumstances my whole life. You, in general, are wrong for the most part. Trust me. The person who invented "Ingles sin barreras" (English without barriers [English speaking tutorial]) is a multi-multi millionaire. And the adult career centers and night colleges are FULL TO THE BRIM with people in the ESL classes, mostly of people your age and above. I can go on, but its just going to be another "agree to disagree" thing. ;)

Trust me when I say this. They feel like shit about it as much as you do and ideally wouldnt have it that way. I also highly doubt that the 1st generation (many of which make up the immigrants you speak of) of the Polish, or the other immigrants that in your eyes were worthy of being here learned English very effectively either. We cant speak on being here in the 20's and 40's because we werent there. They were discriminated against as harshly as nowadays and when you were IN little Italy back in the day, you rarely heard ENglish and they too made their own neighborhoods. Not until the 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants (when people actually feel ashamed of their backround and actually dont want to learn their descendents language) do they start "assimilating" pretty quickly. I do see where you are coming from though.

Please think that US Marines are US citizens, with families, dreams, girlfriends, sons, daughters, parents, etc.

My family has a history of military service, my cousin is in the Marines right now, on a second, voluntary tour of duty along the Syrian border. You want to tell him that? I'm sure He, his father, and my grandfather would love to tell you the contrary.

I plan on joining the Marines after college, so I can be an officer (as per my cousin's reccomendation) and serve my country.

I'm not a fan of many politicians, and I like b(.)(.)bs too...
