Nascar fans... Earnhardt and Gordon WTF!?

    BBQ!?

They’re the Holy Trinity of NASCAR. The father figure, the son and the holy terror.

And now, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are teammates.

Has there ever, in any sport, been a more powerful triumvirate than the one put together by Rick Hendrick on Wednesday?

By signing Earnhardt to a five-year deal, the omnipowerful car owner has added racing’s brightest star to a stable that already included the sport’s most successful active driver and the reigning Nextel Cup champion.

This shouldn't be a repost considering most of you west coast guys are still asleep right now :)
    Keep on Keepin' on.

OK, I admit it.. I'm a nascar fan.

As to the topic, I never thought I'd see Jr at Hendrick, especially considering that that team was already stacked with talent and at their 4 car limit. I'm not sure Earnhardt is worth letting Kyle Busch walk away.

On the other hand, if Earnhardt wants to win then Hendrick is the place to be right now.

What part of it don't people get? The part where in less then 20 years it went from motorsports to a soap opera? I used to be a huge nascar fan. But the focus moved from racing to drama. Then I found the SCCA. Now when I hear the word nascar, I LOL a little bit.

thats how i feel. it just to much drama now. nascar peaked 10 years ago. I still love oval racing though, going to a karting dirt race tomorrow.

I used to race karts on dirt ovals. Meh. It was fun as fuck, but had it been on a pavement road course, shit, even a dirt road course, it woulda been 10x better.

Oval racing is still racing. But road courses with multiple turns in different directions, banking, width, etc... offer the same thing and then some. And it brings out better drivers, not better cars. Being consistent is a hell of a lot harder. Thats why GOOD drivers always ran up front at Sears Point and the Glen - Mark Martin, Boris Said, etc..

What I don't like about NASCAR is the PR marketing going on. Granted, just about every form of motorsport is guilty of engaging in this activity (its what helps pay the bills), but NASCAR seems to take it to a whole new level of nausea. Nowadays you can't walk down any given aisle of your local grocery store without seeing the NASCAR logo plastered on something. It is literally everywhere...."the official soup/fuel/laptop/boxer shorts/toothpaste/male enhancement/vaginal cream of NASCAR." Sheeesh.

As for the racing itself, it has just never captivated me. Going straight....turn left.....going straight....turn left for 200+ laps will test ones' ability to stay focused without getting bored - that's where consuming all those NASCAR endorsed products helps pass the time until the checkered I suppose. I'm not saying oval track racing is easy...heck, its dangerous as fuck. However, it just isn't my stein of beer so I don't watch/follow/care for it.
