      FUCK THE POLICE!!!!

Its bullshit that tax payers and people who aren't criminals FEAR the police, hit the brakes or drive 5 under the speed limit when a cop is in site to avoid a chicken shit ticket. I have dealt with good cops and bad cops but the bad deffinately outweighs the good.

Blunt, have fun being a good citizen and standing up for the cops on this one.
hey dipshit, im not 100% pro cop. there are bad cops just like there are bad teachers.politicians, and even in your line of work there are bad fry cooks. i look at each situation and judge. it sounds like marianno got roughed up. while marianno and i are from completely different worlds i can still relate to him. i know he used to be a gang banger and altho i dont know this id be willing to bet he still looks like one. if you dont think that makes a difference to cops you are wrong. cops deal with assholes 99% of their lives. when i was a kid and i brought a new kid home and my dad met him and thought he recognized him he automatically assumed he was an asshole and he knew him from arresting him . not that maybe hed seen him at church or whatever. its how seasoned cops think... i wasnt there so i cant speak but my guess is they assumed marianno was a gang banger and possibly armed. a cop that doesnt think like that is dead in a year in LA. when they first approached you marianno, what exactly happened? did they tell you to get on the front of the car and you resisted or what? to think that cops would grab him, throw him on the hood hard enough to crack carbon fiber with no escalated communication or actions is hard to believe. my guess is, and i may be wrong is they confronted him, marianno questioned why they were fucking with him and a volley of words went back and forth until the cops felt he wasnt cooperating and on the hood he went.cops, especially in an area like los angeles have to be aggressive or they will get run over.. like i said , i wasnt there but theres always 2 sides to every story. its quite possible they went way overboard .. it wouldnt be the first time

To answer your question they didn't really say anything they just grabed him. at least thats what i saw and heard i was about 10 feet away. again they had NO reason to go after him, he was the passenger. also he was not dressed as gang bangers or anything. plus we live in la crescenta not LA, its different, the cops over here don't really see any action. in my opinon the cops over here have an itch to make a little things into a huge deal. most of the people who live around us will also agree with me...

True, there are bad people in every profession, however, being bad and doing bad things are less excuseable when their misdeeds can cause someone's life to be turned completely upside down.

Where as if the cashier in walmart takes my $100 and mistakes it for a $10 and insists I only gave her $10, then it costs me a little bit of time, frustration, and money if they end up kicking me out of the store. BUT if a police officer is abusing his power or he is way out of line when it comes to enforcing the law, as wrong as he is, you are still considered a criminal if he accuses you of a crime. And if you ignore the officer and go on about your business because you know he is just being a total jerk, then it becomes an issue where YOU are breaking the law.

Cops should be held to a higher standard and we should be less tolerant of their mistakes. Their level of power and authority is harmful if it is misused, whether mistakenly or purposely. One time I got lost and I was driving through a really bad neighborhood. So I ended up turning around to go back the same way I came. I drove about a half mile and there were 2 cars blocking the street because the drivers of each car apparently knew each other and they were sitting in the middle of the street facing opposite directions window-to-window talking. So I sit and wait for one of them to notice that I was behind them. Being that its only the 3 of us out there, I decide to back up to give myself enough room to drive around them. Then all of a sudden they realize that I am there so they start to manuver their cars over to the side of the road and for about 30 seconds, its like an acrobatic circus of these cars attempting to negotiate their way around each other.

So we finally get out of each other's way and I start back down the road again. Here comes this cop from the other direction and he gives me this dirty look as he passes me and then immediately makes a U-Turn and turns on his lights. So when he walks up to my car, he only asks for my license and then asks me if I am buying or selling drugs. I told the officer that I was in the neighborhood minding my own business. Apparently the cop was staking out the area because from his vantage point, it appeared to him that I was associated with those other 2 guys doing a drug transaction.

The whole time that this cop is interrogating me, he has a very angry and nasty demeanor. He never ran my tags or my license nor did he search my car but he took down all of my information, asked me where I worked, (which by this time I wanted to prove that I had a job and I did not sell drugs for a living.) and other odds and ends. And then before he let me go he warned me that he would be keeping his eye on me so I better not get caught. This was on a Wednesday- By Friday, I was fired from my job, evicted from my apartment, and the trade school that I was going to at the time kicked me out of their program and told me that I could return on academic probation provided that I submitted to a drug test and entered drug counseling.

At that point in my life I didn't even hang around people who used or sold drugs let alone not ever having had used drugs myself. But the cop being a jerk affected my livelyhood.

It really was.. I was not charged with ANYTHING and I am thankful that I was able to explain it all to the dean of my school but my employer and my landlord didn't want anything else to do with me after talking to the cop. I was able to get another place and getting another job was not that big of a deal but that could have been devistating to someone else.

I have not read this whole thread and really don't feel like adding much...

I will say that the Sheriff's Department was very unprofessional and downright RUDE. This was all over nothing and turned in to a big power trip. Mariano was taken in and cited for resisting an arrest that was non existent.

I don't care who agrees with us but the law WAS wrong this time.

To people saying they will call in and complain; you were not there, your opinion will not matter.

To the people involved, good luck sorting this out.

Yeah.. if that were the case we would all be ruined. But I had given this cop addresses and phone numbers and everything else short of a report on my whereabouts for the last 36 hours. My guess is that he started investigating me and telling everyone that I was suspected of drug trafficking and calling those people to see if they knew anything. This guy even came to my door a couple of times but I wouldn't answer. So my guess is that he was either over zelous or he really thought he had a live one.

OK... Ive been talking to a few lawyers and I know a few locals who are incensed that their local police did this. Im getting signed statements from all the 7 witnesses and sending them to my lawyer. I am not backing down. I walked out of the car, they did not have any lights on, they didnt say anything until I was almost to the door. I didnt feel it was necessary to stop since I was not in violation of any law and the WHOLE driveway and the patio is private property. Then I stopped just short of the door and asked what we were being stopped for and or what was the charge. They refused to answer. Then he grabbed my arm very hard. Throughout I was asking politely (with no cussing whatsoever) what was the charge. No answer. Since I wasnt under arrest for any charge I refused to put my hands behind my back. Had they told me what the reason was for fabricating this arrest I would have happily put my arms behind my back. I suppose in their eyes, they can cuff you and arrest you, but not tell you the charge. There was no arrest to resist. They then proceeded to try and trip me which led to them dragging me out and slamming onto Mikes car twice and with me already subdued they went to town with the pepper spray. When I was in custody and I was being interviewed, I was calm, polite, articulate to every and all officers that I spoke to. SHowing that if one treats me with respect, I will reciprocate. The point is this, fellas. Ive been through everything, and the times I SHOULD have been locked up for cussing at cops and telling them to fuck themselves and instigating stuff, nothing happened. I literally did nothing to provoke them and wasnt violating any law, looking suspicious, hiding anything. I was wearing the shoes I always wear (Koston ES's), A Bimmerfest shirt of all things, and some shorts with skater glasses on my head. But thats besides the point or else now were heading into racial profiling territory. I had my friend drive specifically to be on the correct side of the law. I did not run into the house, I calmly started walking towards the door. I was going to be off probation in August, havent been arrested since 2003, I have paid ALL my fines, completed ALL programs, done ALL community service and have no outstanding warrants or court dates. I was looking forward to being free and clear of legal obligations for thge first time since I was 17. Now this...... Im not taking this lying down.
