What could r3v recommend in the area of a lever action .22LR?
Dunno what your spending limit is but I have a nice Henry golden boy. Not sure how much it was then as my dad got it for me when I was 15 or 16 but they go for about $330 now. Its been very accurate and is a fun plinker. The action is VERY nice.

I got my mosin today. It came with all tools, ammo pouches, shoulder strap, and a grease can thing. which being in the same bag as the grease can, so there is grease on everything... Ill have to clean all thar stuff. The rifle was even less expensive than i though. $110. total cost cost for the gun and a 20rnd box of 7.62x54r came to 138.54. Not bad. Now all i need is a cleaning kit, a case and some surplus bulk ammo. The pic of the rifle isnt good, the thing is so long, i cant get the whole thing in the pic and still show detail. I never told my dad I was buying this, I cant wait to see what he says when he finds out i have it...
Those hexagonal ones are much more desirable. I have a Mosin but not a Hex. Its one my uncle brought back from Vietnam and gave me around 7 years ago or something. He died about 5 months ago. :( He left me several other guns and they mean so much to me. Luger, 22-250 w/ Leupold scope, MKI .22lr and another very special piece.
Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

Is that the hexagonal rifle from the aimsurplus link? I'm seriously considering ordering one... Got to shoot my friend's mosin a while back and loved it.
PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

Mine isnt a hex, it is round. it was made in 1943 at Izhevsk. I didnt order from AIM, I got mine at dunham's sports. Here is a link that shows the the different variations of the M1891/30.
Im sure its covered in Cosmoline, a little white gas will remove that quite nice. You picked up the full size, the carbine is a few bucks more. Nice rifle, wait till you see the fire ball that comes out the end of that!

I'm really tempted to get one of those Hex mosins still + some of the bulk ammo on that site... But I'm still trying to save my "gun money" for my first pistol purchase.....

Wow I just bought 2 Mosins on Sunday. They were both laminates one from 37' and the other from 38'. They both have very bright bores and great rifling. I gave 130 each so your 110 is a great deal. Check Aimsurplus.com for some cheap Surplus Polish ammo 79.99 for 440 rds.

What caliber would you recommend for a clean kill for a max 20 yard shot on WT deer?
.357, 40, 45, 10mm?
You better check your local laws on hunting with hand guns and what rounds you can use. I would not use most of those rounds for Deer. That is really not humane to hunt like that!

Id love to pick up a 440rnd case ( or 2):) from aim, but Im 19, and they require you to be 21, to buy their ammo. My friend turns 21 in like a few weeks, so I could have him sign up, buy the ammo, and i just pay him...
I'll be picking up my first range-use handgun next week :)
Glock 17 RTF2.
Looking to pick up a pump shotty for my next purchase in a few months time, and was looking for opinions on both the Benelli Supernova and the Remington 870.
I know they're both pretty solid, but was wondering why one would be chosen over the other? I'm looking at tactical versions btw (if that makes a difference? No pistol grip though for me...not a fan).
