My dad just gave me his S&W .357 stub nose the other day. Its the first gun i have ever owned. I wanted to pick up a gun for home security + fun and he told me to just take this one.

I would hate to fire a snub-nosed .357 Mag in a bedroom! Make sure you always keep some ear protection handy.

Picked this up yesterday. CZ PCR in 9mm. I cannot WAIT to get this bad boy to the range. Trigger already feels good to me, and the grip is very comfy. Pic:

The 75 is a great gun and one of a few guns I've used. The comfort is amazing.
PCR = Police (force of the) Czech Republic. The day-to-day gun the cops have been using since 1975. The D compact is made of alloy instead of the classic steel frame for smaller weight. There's a new Phantom version with a polymer frame that weighs 800 grams and P-07 Duty, the newest version, weighing 770g.

^ My thoughts exactly. There is just ONE little issue I'm having with the PCR. The black rubber grips are wearing off and leaving a black residue mainly on my shooting hand thumb. Not a big deal by any means, I'm wondering if maybe its just because they are new and it'll go away with usage. OR its just another reason to get some nice wood grips :)

I am deaf anyways from my loud ass exhaust and head banging music so it wont matter anyways. It also has the on the top end of the barrel it has three slits cut out in it,thats for the muzzle flash to come out of so the kick isnt as bad right?

As you describe it, it sounds like you do have a build in muzzle brake. It;s main function is to lessen muzzle climb when your shooting, the gas is directed up, pushing the front of the gun down.

Yup its compensated it sounds like. I dont remember a S&W that short and in .357 coming that way from the factory. Only the bigger bore mags like the 460 and 500 came that way from the factory that I can recall.

My dad was telling me about it, i have shot my friends .357 before with a 6 inch barrel and yeah its got a KICK to it. I havent shot this one yet.

Oh and another note. I bought my gun during the nation's gun show at dulles, lots and lots of transactions going on. Last time I bought a handgun I had to wait like 25-40 minutes for the background check to go through.

This time, before the guy could finish counting my money out, the helper had already gone and come back with a cleared background. Difference was I had a CCW permit. I think it made a difference. Both good and bad though, Good because I don't have to deal with the hassle as much I suppose, bad because the ATF knows just that bit much more about me, and I am more reachable.

If you have a CCW they dont have to call it in to the ATF. All your CCW info goes on the form and your good to go.

I guess its figured since you have been vetted by your local sheriff and the ATF with finger prints and a FBI back ground check (varies by state of course) you dont have to be called in every time you buy a gun.

here in washington they call and confirm, takes like 15 minutes or so to walk in and walk out with a new gun IF you have a CCW. if not, takes a week.

Not always true, here in FL they have to call due to the fact that you could have had your license revoked but still have in possession. They must verify that the license is still valid.

But after you clear, there is no waiting time. Here in Miami Dade if you do not have a CCW it takes 5 business days before you can take ownership.

Wow I didnt know that, everywhere I have lived if you have a CCW there was no call that had to be made. Shit even when I have bought with out a CCW where I live now it was In and out in less than 20 mins with a instant. Mi is a PIA due to the fact you have to go get a permission slip from you local constabulary before you can buy a pistol. And if you move there and own them, you still have to go get the permission slips for each of them and pay the fee. Yup Registration.

and shit, I though FL was a gun friendly free state and there was no "cooling off period"/ waiting period.

so I went to the 'Nation's gun show' Friday and again today... I was one ID short of a DMPS ar15.. didn't realize you needed 3 forms to purchase 'assault weapons.'

Instead, I am now the proud owner of a CZ 75 SP-01 9mm.

I've shot my uncles 75b and loved it, but didn't want to get the same firearm so I ended up with the sp-01. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, really hoping to try and make some time this week :)
