    TwoJ,

Unless he is about giving that gun away Id hold off and apply that money to something like what your friend got to replace it. Night and day difference.

Thanks for the heads up. I have fired both, and I definitely did like the AR better, but he is going to sell it for $300. He said he just doesn't use it anymore. The brand escapes my mind at the moment, but I did find it fun to shoot.

I'm not doubting that you know much more about guns than I do, but what are your reasons for saying that? I'm just curious.

I think I may follow your advice too, I don't really NEED another gun.

It's a Ruger Mini 14, they are about as acurate as a blind man throwing a rock at a noise he heard. The scope on it just makes us that know laugh even more.

I read forums all day. As some of you can tell. Its an addiction I think. Maybe need to seek help. But anyway, I hate to keep sending people to AR15.com but it is the largest gun site made up of Military and police. Not all but tons. Over 100k members that have the addiction to shooting like I. That is my first love. Cars second, girlfriend third. I said that because she is reading over my shoulder. But you will get an idea of how something works after you read reviews on things over and over. I have never owned one. Always watch the resale of something. If its good, it will still cost a lot. If it sucks people unload on them. That is one that no one can unload on. People buy them because the A-team had them. Even in the A-team no one died. That gun is fun to shoot but is not a tack driver. Meaning being able to drop one bullet on top of another. The AR platform is proven, the Mini14 is not. There is a section dedicated to that gun and you can read it yourself. I just see if your going to spend good hard earned money. Spend it once. A gun is a tool. And one day you might need to use that tool to save your life. Why waste good money on a tool that can not live up to the job. At $300 you are almost 1/3 the way to a New AR or half way to a used AR. The ammo is the same so just save up and you would not be disappointed in the end. Kind of that buyers remorse some get. Research before you buy and make sure its what you want or are looking for. $300 your in the range of an AK that shoots just as well as that and the ammo is half the cost of the 5.56 that the mini uses.

Just food for thought. But don't take my word.

Thanks for the words. I do hear what you mean, and I'll educate myself before I purchase something. To be completely honest I'd rather buy myself a pistol before a rifle. Either that or I'll get my friend drunk and convince him to sell me his AR for $300.

            Cheers.

Well Sig has a US facility and changed the markings to read US or Exeter NH USA. This way the guns could still be sold in the US.
I think the USCG started using SIG's and part of the contract stipulated that they had to made in the USA

I've always liked the Steyr AUG, but this one takes it to the next level. Anyone here have it yet?

The Steyr AUG is one fine weapon, along with the H&K MP5

Difficult to tell from the pics but if that is a Mossberg 500 I would suggest looking away. Try the 590 or possibly a remington 870.

                          Doctors vs Gunowners

                          Doctors

                          (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

                          (B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.

                          (C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.

                          Now think about this:

                          Guns

                          (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.

                          (Yes, that's 80 million)

                          (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

                          (C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188

                          Statistics courtesy of FBI

                          So, statistically, doctors are approximately

9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,

                          BUT

ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

                          Please alert your friends

                          to this alarming threat.

We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court said on Thursday that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting, the justices' first major pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history. The court's 5-4 ruling strikes down the District of Columbia's 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the Second Amendment. The decision goes further than even the Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most firearms laws intact.
The court had not conclusively interpreted the Second Amendment since its ratification in 1791. The amendment reads: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

The basic issue for the justices was whether the amendment protects an individual's right to own guns no matter what, or whether that right is somehow tied to service in a state militia. Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for four colleagues, said the Constitution does not permit "the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home."

He said such evidence "is nowhere to be found."
