If you was picked, I'd recommend staying in school.

i would go...but im ineligible. I actually got rejected from joining the army and going into Rangers because I'm colorblind and my knee is too messed up to take parachuting.

Why send random people to fight? You don't wander through a school and tag every 20th person to be an engineer! We have people with unique strengths, and not all are created equal as much as the ideals say. Keep it volunteer and send the people who want to go, at their risk, for the benefits they get and the money. My family has served before and used the GI Bill to educate themselves and now provide opportunities without. Efficient human resources is not sending people with a draft and not best for the long-term growth and development of the nation.

Why not have the 5'5" violence-lovers who can't afford school conventionally and are willing to travel be trained and go fight for those unable to enlist or are better to be used otherwise? That, or why not like a lot of empires in history - use a mercenary army and not have any of us die.

I got a letter from the government
              The other day
              I opened and read it
              It said they were suckers
They wanted me for their army or whatever
Picture me given' a damn - I said never
              - Chuck D

In all seriousness, there's no way that the draft will ever get reinstated.

You left out the "No, I'm too intelligent" response.

Exactly. I'm no sucker or a pawn.

Wow, you broke ass baggy pants kinda surprised me with these poll results, good for youse..... :)

I remember back in HS when they made us all register for the "Selective service"- (do they even still do that??). I was a bit apprehensive about it at first, but I registered and I think it would be the right thing to do if I was of draft age now.

As for the "I'm too intelligent" excuse- I think you've proven yourself wrong by posting that shit. It's an insult to those who are serving to protect your stupid ass.

No, I wouldn't go. I have a European Union passport (Finland). I'd be on a plane there within a few hours of getting my draft letter.

Every 18 year old male is required to register for the draft. On that note, fuck yes I would go. I am probably going to enlist anyways, draft or not.

If I found out there was going to be a draft I would just enlist.

I want to do everything on my own terms, at least that way I could select which branch I'd go into.

And, I do not mind it at all. So I figure, one more person that wants to be there would equate to one less person who doesn't want to be.

hell no I wouldn't go...no matter what anyone offered me. I'd be on a plane anywhere else. I'm no fighter...I'm a thinker :)

I support my country 100%...but it's harder for me to say that I support my government. I appreciate those who do go, of course, but you wouldn't pick a leper for a skin graph or facial now would you?

Thank a loving God that I'm a convicted felon! I am unfit for jury duty or the military. Don't you think this is unfair. I call it a fringe benefit.
