ooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuccccccccccchhhhhhhhh!!
And to think PSU tore Oregon State a new one, 45-14. What fun it would be to see JoePa win a championship, the man is holding out on death for one.

FUCK USC. That was a fucking awesome game tonight. Great game played by Oregon State. Congrats to the PNW OSU fans.
disclaimer: I am not an Oregon state fan, but my second favorite team is whoever is playing USC.Leave a comment:

That was a nail-biter. Props to LSU for pulling it out. Now Tenn..... that was just sad.Leave a comment:

Eagles: California teams suck and QB eagles was the man on Tecmo superbowl when I was like 5.
Tigers: I lived in Warren, MI then St. Claire shores, MI shortly after, when I started caring about baseball. ($5 bleacher seats to old Tiger Stadium FTW)
Magic: No idea, I used to love Penny Hardaway, though. Liked them since he was a rookie
I dont think a playoff would necessarily ever happen. But why not have the good ol' tradition bowls, like we always have. Pac 10 Vs. Big 10 Rosebowl, etc. Then a plus one? Make an extra venue of the "National Championship game" Change yearly, like they do now. Itd be one extra game, for extra revenue, and itd still narrow down "whos the best team?" a little more at least.Leave a comment:

Tell me about it. The Falcons and the Braves are hard to root for much less sit through. But I do it on a regular basis. Out of the 20 plus Braves games that I attended this year i can honestly say that 25 percent were wins. Sad.Leave a comment:

OSU is the most overrated school over the past 4 years. And I admitted that. But I also justified their scheduling. Fans dont make the schedules, the big wigs do, and I just gave their reasoning. So their schedules, in THEIR eyes are great, and couldnt be any better.
A playoff would be AWESOME. For the good schools who get left out yearly, itd be the best thing ever. But like you said, the politics take over college football. They WANT these big time schools to be in the championship game year in and year out. Why would they want Boise State Vs. BYU? Theyre after money. Which is why a playoff will never happen, even though it is more games, thus potential for more revenue.
BTW, the Yankees lost money last year, as well as this year. Knicks and Mavs have the highest pay roll, also. But Im an Eagles, Tigers, Magic, U of M, Flyers fan.
Your avatar says your from CA. What gives on the favorites.......
I'm an ND football fan, used to be an IU basketball fan, and since I was a Boston Celtics fan when I was a little kid I guess I can claim them. I hate pro basketball though.......Don't really have a favorite Pro Football team.
When you no longer have ANY favorites it removes the let down that comes when a favorite loses, and makes sports so much more enjoyable.Leave a comment:

The yanks showed what happens when you lose money I guess.
Yeah, playoff system FTMFW, not possible, but as an SEC fan I will keep hollering and continue to go unnoticed. Hopefully (like Florida) Ga will do it this year giving more truth to the fact that the system is flawed.Leave a comment:

You know exactly why sec teams don't go to natl championship games often. I for one am not impressed with the system and after reading your thoughts have to believe that you aren't either. I don't look at sporting events like an economist... I look at them as a fan, as I was raised. If I looked at my favorite teams like that, I would be a Yankees, Cowboys, Lakers, USC, Duke, Man United (soon to be Man City BTW) fan. Instead I am A Braves, Falcons, GA, Duke, Chelsea fan. See how it works? If you look at sports the way you say you do the first teams I stated should be you teams. Stop playing the make money card and start accepting the fact that certian teams are overrated and college politics play a huge part of the rankings. Put a play off system in place and let'er rip. Watch what happens to those precious teams that are in the top 5 every year. They will fall. They won't make the money, and they will start playing football instead of tiptoeing around the season knowing they are going to be ranked the same every year.
You think the athletes care about how much money their school makes? You actually think it's fair to cut out teams like Auburn 4 years ago who were deemed un worthy for no reason??? I can't stand Auburn, but I will admit that it was a travesty they didn't go to the national championship.Leave a comment:

You will take those harder games, the more difficult SEC schedule, go for it. Show me where I said that OSU's financial future depended SOLELY on their football program. It certainly doesnt hurt though, getting the few million dollars (not sure of the exact amount) the BCS championship APPEARANCE earns you. You dont even have to win, just show up and collect your money. Those two schools are not stupid, they know what works.
As a fan, Id love to see these schools going head to head against other top schools, ever week. Just like the SEC does. If you step away from looking at it as a fan, and look at it realistically (economically), how it really matters, their schedules make the most sense. And for the record, USC just played OSU OUT OF CONFERENCE. They didnt have to play that game. USC does schedule tough opponents, to their credit.
How many championship games have they been to in the last decade? How many has YOUR team been to in the last decade? Hopefully you guys will play in the "Honor Bowl" this year, because you sure as hell wont be in the championship game. Up your donations to the school as well, because they're going to need TONS of donations to make up for their lack of meaningful bowl games.Leave a comment:

That would be nice, MIZZ is looking pretty mean.
Flipp, you are a strange bird. I didn't realize that OSU's financial future rode on their football's moneymaking abilities... If it does, why do teams like Vandy and Penn State exist? What good is a college football team if almost everyone thinks they are overrated? You sit here and defend two teams by saying you agree with them copping out due to revenue?
Shit.. I will take my "hillbilly sec" attitude and honor of challenging harder teams. My school makes more than enough money without copping out to a weak schedule. It's amazing how they do it too, an envelope comes to my house twice a year, and my wife and I put money into it.... novel concept, I know.Last edited by delatlanta1281; 09-15-2008, 11:13 AM.Leave a comment:

Call BS all you want, look at the BCS equation. SOS isnt such a determining factor, like it once was. OSU is the most overrated school for the past 4 years.... but theyve also probably made the most money due to it. So who is laughing? Im a Michigan fan, and Id rather have my team overrated, than irrelevant.Leave a comment:

Strength of Schedule is not as large of a factor as it previously was. So it really doesnt matter how shitty your oponents are. Your preseason rank, and your record are big deals to the BCS. Otherwise BSU woulda played for the title when they beat OU in the Fiesta Bowl (prior to that bowl, obviously).
Actually the BCS rankings are all about strength of schedule. There are other teams out there that will make the championship game with 1 loss OVER USC with NO losses. Georgia is much more likely to make the championship game with one loss to say Florida, (floriday loses to LSU, who also loses to georgia), and then Oklahoma, or Mizzou runs the schedule.
Woila you have a championship game that includes an SEC team with 1 loss and an undefeated team that ISN'T USC.
But I'd like to just by pass all the BS and see Oregon, or ASU beat USC. Better yet see ND beat USC, and go undefeated, and play OSU in a bowl game.
OSU-the most overrated team in college football 4 years running.Leave a comment:

usc has played two games.because they arent nearly as impressive as usc, apparently. Preseason rank is huge... But usc was only ranked 3rd. Its not like they jumped from #20. What georgia being ranked #3 means, is they clearly arent the best team in the nation. Also, keep in mind, these rankings are all coaches polls, not bcs rankings yet.Leave a comment:
