Where were you on 9/11?

I still remember 9/11 very clearly. Mind you at the time this occurred it wasn't even 6am on the left coast....my alarm clock had gone off at 5:30 and I was laying there pondering if I really wanted to go for a jog that morning. My clock radio/alarm is set to a local news/talk station so as I was laying their half asleep I heard the first reports of a plane hitting the WTC. Details were sketchy and then they tapped into an on-scene reporter via cell phone giving some details. As he was talking the second plane hit, and he was repeating himself (in utter shock) "oh my god......I can feel the heat from here.....oh my.....oh my god". At this point I was wide awake and went to click on the TV. The first picture I saw was the north tower in flames and smoke.....I was dumb-struck to say the least. Then they showed the now infamous clip of the second plane slamming into the south tower. When I saw that happen the first words from my mouth were, "that's no accident.....we're under some sort of attack." Needless to say I did not go running that morning since I was glued to the TV. I finally peeled myself away from that long enough to get cleaned up and head off to work. When I arrived an e-mail had been circulated to all users that due to the events people are welcome to return home if they want. I tended to a couple tasks which had to be finished that day but then I left afterwards.
What made this whole event at the WTC more profound to me was that in late July of that summer I took a week-long trip to Manhattan and one of the highlights was going to the observation floor (top floor, south tower) at WTC. I'll never forget how small the yellow taxis and people walking on the sidewalk appeared from that far up. When outside the buildings on the sidewalk, you couldn't help but marvel at the sheer size of these towers - simply huge! So when I saw them crumble to the ground just over a month later on TV, I was in more shock than most people I know since they hadn't been to the WTC before.
Truly a sad day......I certainly will never forget.

I was a Sergeant, and was thinking about re-enlisting. I was in Washington D.C. about a half hour from the Pentagon going to the SNCO academy. We had just been put on a break, and I had stayed behind in the classroom to look over the next classroom. The breakroom had a TV in it, and the Marines came back saying that a plane had run into the WTC. I was like WTF? How can a plane run into a building. I was thinking that a small Cessna-like plane had done this. Obviously, later we all found out what happened. The whole base was put on lock down, school was cancelled, etcetera. Some of the infantry types were saying that they had been mobilized, and so on. Pretty scary shit. All the bases were fuckin' ghost towns, as far as traffic. Everyone was glued to the TV obviously.
p.s. 6 years later, I've gotten promoted a couple times, and haven't had a chance to participate in the war (in country) yet. A few of my friends have been killed (RIP), and I'm having a moral struggle to decide if not being to the war yet is a good thing or not...Slicktop City!

Because of her antics on the very topic and conspiracy theory you are trying to inflict on us by your signature. It is offensive I ask you to remove itLast edited by atomic; 09-11-2007, 01:48 PM.

I would hope that some people actually take the time and research building 7 on their own time, through their own sources. You're clearly blinded by this societies distractions... and set in your ways to boot. I've nothing more to say to you.

Sophomore year at ASU, Had a 7:40am class I was getting ready for. Turned on the computer and saw it on MSN's hompage. Got a call from my parents aroun 8am Arizona time and they told me my Cousin was okay, she got stuck on a subway train a few blocks away from the WTC when the first plane hit and they shut down the subway, she had a meeting with some of her clients at a cafe accross the street, luckily she didn't get any closer.
My Uncle, her father, was a Senior Capt for United and flew the Logan to SF route. Luckily he had retired two years prior.
Unfotunately I personally don't think the country has learned anything in the past 6 years.
Regardless of who replaces bush in the next election, Hopefully things will turn around for this country.

Video can be edited in anyway to give a certain meaning of any given topic. I have researched it and IMO that all information is biased in how they want it interpreted. No damn different than the garbage "Michael Moore" produces...

I'd like to see Giuliani in there, but I don't think he plays enough to the religious right to get a strong nom. Likewise with Thompson. I fear it's going to be a lame duck like Romney tossed out there, ala Dole in 96.

I was between AP english and Physics when one of my friends walked by and said , "dude a plane just hit the world trade center and another one hit the pentagon." my first reaction was wow that really sucks... It didnt register until i got up to physics and i watched the second plane hit....I thought it was just some really tragic coincidence until that point. but i remember just not having a clear thought the rest of the day.
