Having a camera/mic running 24/7 in a car is actually a pretty good idea. Especially when police decide to be dicks, or you have some sort of accident etc. I'll be doing it when my car is finished.

Wow...now that's rediculous. If they have the right to record you, I would think it would go both ways. And besides, if he records you, you have every right to that recording...so why would it matter?

The kid was a putz, but the cop was totally out of line and unprofessional. I've been pulled over about a dozen times for various reasons in my 12 years of driving and have never encountered a cop like this. And I've only gotten one ticket, and that bitch was the worst one I've ever had to deal with. But that's what I get for being military and stationed in Virginia. Where the cops are dicks and are ever bigger dicks if you are military. A state trooper even pulled over a city cop once for passing him on the interstate; they consider it a sign of disrespect.

But for the most part all of my interactions with cops have been good and I would defiantly group this guy as the minority for how they behave. Just the other week at a local strip mall that we have a car gathering at every week we had a good interaction with a cop. The property had been bought by new owners that didn't like us hanging out there even though we brought in a lot of business. So they put up some no loitering signs in the parking lot and hired a security guard to keep us from hanging out by our cars. Some of the guys grumbled but everyone followed the guard’s requests. Then the cops came by, not knowing what was going I was a bit concerned that a few may have been ruining it for the rest of us. But it ended up being one of the guy’s dad and he had called him. Turns out the security guard was incorrectly enforcing the no loitering ordinance. Even though it was private property the parking lot and sidewalks are considered public access. And if we where customers of any of the business in the shopping center then they had no right to tell us where we could hang out or for how long we could hang out there. So this is one instance where a cop actually stood up for the car enthusiast community.

The charge also becomes bogus because the "wiretapping" law is not adhered to by police officers themselves. An exception to the wiretapping law allows police to film people during traffic stops.

In addition police routinely carry microphones that are wired up to their vehicles to record conversations without the knowledge of anyone whom they stop or question.

I learned this FIRST HAND! In my trial I objected to using the questions I answered in court when I spoke to the officer because he didn't read me my rights. Guess it doesn't matter for the case of a traffic ticket, rights only have to be read for felonies. SO - if a cop is questioning you and says he is just talking with you, ALWAYS assume that he is recording you and trying to get you to incriminate yourself.

That's the whole reason I got a ticket from a fucking citizen. Had I left my mouth shut, the cop couldn't have done a thing. Fuckin a. lol

In Harrisburg, PA a man was swarmed by 8 Police and accused of being a member of Al-Qaeda after shooting pictures of his new car under a bridge.

This happend to me! Kind of - I was approached and questioned for taking pictures of my car. Guess I was up to no good. But, I was very cooperative. lol

It also sets the precedent that those who enforce the law are also above the law.

Anyone who's watched that show even once should be able to figure out how most cops work. If you're polite and cooperative, they will act the same way- if you're a dick, then they will automatically put themselves in a contest with you to see who is the bigger dick, and they WILL win, everytime.


The idiot in the video showed from the start that he was going to go the dick route, he obviously doesn't know when to STFU. "Yes, sir" and "No, sir" are good choices when dealing with a cop who just pulled you over- anything else is just wasted breath and can get you in trouble.

This kid's defiance kind of reminds me of when I was in 8th grade and there was this kid who would test the authority of the teacher and say, "you can't touch me". The teacher would then say, "I can do more to you than you would ever want me to." And this went on and on for weeks until one day the kid went too far and the teacher had him transferred to the remedial class where the thugs and behavioral problemed students would beat on the kid and bully him around all day.
