He said he had the video camera because he got pulled over and fucked over in the past. As he was going out late at night when you are much more likely to be pulled over he probably decided to record.97 tacoma 5 spd 4 cylinder

Be very careful and check you local laws first, there was a guy that got charged with a felony for recording the voice of a peace officer without his consent, I'll hunt down the link if you'd like.Comment

I agree with you that the kid had no reason to tell the officer anything.
However I believe you cannot refuse to provide ID to a police officer.

I'd be more than happy to identify myself, but outside of ID, I'll need to know their reasonings to see anything else further. Good call though.
Hahah...Mastrcruse....I AM McLOVIN! LMAO
Wow...now that's rediculous. If they have the right to record you, I would think it would go both ways. And besides, if he records you, you have every right to that recording...so why would it matter?- Sean HayesComment

The kid was a putz, but the cop was totally out of line and unprofessional. I've been pulled over about a dozen times for various reasons in my 12 years of driving and have never encountered a cop like this. And I've only gotten one ticket, and that bitch was the worst one I've ever had to deal with. But that's what I get for being military and stationed in Virginia. Where the cops are dicks and are ever bigger dicks if you are military. A state trooper even pulled over a city cop once for passing him on the interstate; they consider it a sign of disrespect.
But for the most part all of my interactions with cops have been good and I would defiantly group this guy as the minority for how they behave. Just the other week at a local strip mall that we have a car gathering at every week we had a good interaction with a cop. The property had been bought by new owners that didn't like us hanging out there even though we brought in a lot of business. So they put up some no loitering signs in the parking lot and hired a security guard to keep us from hanging out by our cars. Some of the guys grumbled but everyone followed the guard’s requests. Then the cops came by, not knowing what was going I was a bit concerned that a few may have been ruining it for the rest of us. But it ended up being one of the guy’s dad and he had called him. Turns out the security guard was incorrectly enforcing the no loitering ordinance. Even though it was private property the parking lot and sidewalks are considered public access. And if we where customers of any of the business in the shopping center then they had no right to tell us where we could hang out or for how long we could hang out there. So this is one instance where a cop actually stood up for the car enthusiast community.Comment

Originally posted by article posted by PinepigThe charge also becomes bogus because the "wiretapping" law is not adhered to by police officers themselves. An exception to the wiretapping law allows police to film people during traffic stops.
In addition police routinely carry microphones that are wired up to their vehicles to record conversations without the knowledge of anyone whom they stop or question.
That's the whole reason I got a ticket from a fucking citizen. Had I left my mouth shut, the cop couldn't have done a thing. Fuckin a. lol
In Harrisburg, PA a man was swarmed by 8 Police and accused of being a member of Al-Qaeda after shooting pictures of his new car under a bridge.
It also sets the precedent that those who enforce the law are also above the law.Last edited by Sean; 09-12-2007, 08:06 PM.- Sean HayesComment

I like this part
Officer #1 Do you know what impeding the flow of a police officers duties are?
Brett: What's that? Go ahead, tell me.
Officer #1: Whenever I ask you... If I'm conducting an investigat... This is called a field investigation, if you're impeding it, you're impeding it.
Brett: You're saying, I can't refuse to answer your questions?
Officer #1: They're not incriminating are they?
Brett: You don't know that.
Officer #1: Are they incriminating?
Brett: Yes they are.
Officer #1: They are?
Brett: They could be.
Officer #1: Then are you doing something illegal here?
Brett: No I'm not.
Officer #1: Then they are not incriminating.
Brett: Yes, they could be incriminating. I have the right to privacy.
Officer #1: What privacy? Not when you're out in public, you don't have the right to privacy.
Brett: Yes, I do have a right to not tell you where I'm going or what I'm doing.
Officer #1: Really?
Brett: It's the 4th Amendment right.
Officer #1: Really?
Brett: Yes it is. Violation of my rights...
Officer #1: I like this. You want me to tell you the law.
Brett: Go ahead and tell me the law.
Officer #1: If you fail to comply with my orders, my lawful orders, you have the right to go to jail. Failure to comply with a police officer.
Brett: Your lawful orders to answer your questions...
Officer #1: Yes, my field.
Brett: Personal questions?
Officer #1: What's personal questions? You're sitting here in a commuter parking lot at 2 o'clock in the morning, you understand.
Brett: Okay, that's fine.
Officer #1: You know what, I think I'm gonna bring you with me. Come on.
Brett: Officer please.
Officer #1: I think you're gonna come with me. Then you can try and sue me in grand jury and I bet you I win. Then I'll sue you.
Brett: Officer I really... I just had a bad night.
Officer #1: Well let's ruin your night. You want to show me attitude.
Brett: No, no I don't.
Officer #1: I want to show you the law. I want to show you the law. I'm gonna show you my law is right yours is wrong.
Brett: Officer, I'm sorry. Like I said, I'm not trying to start anything. I've had problems with everybody tonight and I didn't mean to give you attitude. It's just one of those nights.
LOL
Officer #2- [speaking to officer #1] He's got a scanner in his car.
Brett: I've always got a scanner in my car.
Officer #1: And by the way, that is technically a burglary tool cause you're scanning us while you're driving around. You're trying to see if you're gonna be detected. [The scanner was off]
Officer #1: What do you do? Do you go look for trouble?
Officers #2- [speaking to officer #1 while looking through my back window at a small hidden camera] That is a camera.
Brett: I have multiple cameras all over the car.
Officer #1: You have issues man. Okay?
Brett: Alright, I'm sorry.
Officer #1: I think I want to take you to jail just to prove you wrong. Do you have any weapons or anything on you I need to know about?
Brett: No.
Officer #1: If you would, turn around and place your hands on the car real quick. I'm gonna pat you down.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

a. The kid baited the cop.
b. In my opinion, the cop had probable cause to stop. Late night, transit lot, cop stated they have had a rash of problems there, sounds legit to me.
c. blunt has a new senior buddy in pinepig.
d. Cop was a complete d-bag and an embarrassment to good cops everywhere.

"Cops" on Fox = required watching for everyone on R3V.
Anyone who's watched that show even once should be able to figure out how most cops work. If you're polite and cooperative, they will act the same way- if you're a dick, then they will automatically put themselves in a contest with you to see who is the bigger dick, and they WILL win, everytime.
The idiot in the video showed from the start that he was going to go the dick route, he obviously doesn't know when to STFU. "Yes, sir" and "No, sir" are good choices when dealing with a cop who just pulled you over- anything else is just wasted breath and can get you in trouble.
Seriously, watch "Cops"- probably the best show on TV.
EDIT: looks like Brett Darrow is trying to make hisself famous on the intarweb:

This kid's defiance kind of reminds me of when I was in 8th grade and there was this kid who would test the authority of the teacher and say, "you can't touch me". The teacher would then say, "I can do more to you than you would ever want me to." And this went on and on for weeks until one day the kid went too far and the teacher had him transferred to the remedial class where the thugs and behavioral problemed students would beat on the kid and bully him around all day.Comment

This could have been a parking lot where acts of prostitution and drug transactions take place. Being in such an area or being seen leaving this area is more than enough of a reason for the cop to pull someone over to see what's going on.
