I think the foundation of the problem on health care system in america has been mentioned in this thread.
Doctors/Dentists/Healthcare providers are 75% in for teh moniesss!!!!!111one

That, paired with sue happy americans create a catch 22 for any affordable health system.
If you take artificial increase of medical costs in America, you could start some kind of health care system. It is absolutly rediculous that I pay 1/3 of the price for AMERICAN MADE medicine here in France before any kind of reimbursement of the government. Except for emergencies (apendecities, bloody wound) i've always gone to belgium for treatment, and I have ALWAYS been 100% satisfied with the cleanliness, the efficency and the use of newer practices (which you pay fortunes for in America)

Maybe once government creates a health care system, it might also drive out money chasers in the health industry... But that is just a guess.

    but i'm le tired

Just FYI the hospital system I work for (Memorial Hermann) is a NPO. Many of them are. I don't know about elsewhere in the US, but houston has an all free hospital.

Healthcare is not an industry that should be run in a rampant form of capitalism. Switzerland has awesome medical coverage and the gov't pays for it. It can be done here in America as well, especially with higher taxes on the 300,000 a year and higher incomes. The cost of insurance is absurd, as a college student my insurance (Best plan i could find) is $96/mo + $1500 deductible with a $3000 max out of pocket. So technically I could pay $1200+$1500+400 (hospital admittance copay)= $3100 in a year before Kaiser would actually pay anything out.

Seems like you guys are just blaming insurance because you picked crappy plans. You choose - pay REALLY high taxes - or pay for good insurance. I choose good insurance. At least I get to choose where I spend my money.

The interns and the rookies should work on the people who can't afford medical care. It becomes a 2-fold situation because the new recruits get to practice while the poor people can get some sort of care.

That could work the same way that it does with a public defender. People who cannot afford an attorney will get paired up with someone who just passed their bar exam and needs experience in the law field.

New doctors have to practice on SOMEBODY.. why not make it the poor who otherwise would not be able to get treatment?

                    Now that's a reasonable idea!
