The m3's are an on/off generation. E30's were right, E36 was a miss, E46 was a hit, E90 m3, miss. Which means the ones to come out post 2015 will be spot on again!
That chassis looks much better in the coupe version. 4 door rear looks cheap to me.
I'm sure their reason for doing the sedan has to do with condenters such as the Audi RS4, the Benz C63, Infinity M (V8 model), Jaguar XJR (or XJ Super V8 for that matter). There's several mid-sized high performance sport sedans out there already....BMW is just trying to get their piece of the pie.
Edit: I personally like the looks of the new 3-series sedan more than the coupe so I think the M3 variant is a good thing 8)

Wait until the 1-series comes out.....specifically the 135i. If they get the cooling issues resolved of the twin-turbo which have surfaced in the new 335s, the upcoming "1" coupe is going to be quick and under $40K. Not bad considering the brand and the performance potential.

Yeah......
The m5 totally sucks.
The m6 too.
Oh and the m3.....
and the 335,
the 1 series....
All those cars suck compared to what enthusiasts could buy from other car companies like....
A scion
charger
mustang
porsche
gti
sti
evo
ETC
Sorry man, but if you think BMW is letting you down, then that sucks. Lemme ask you a question though. If you had 70k sitting in your pocket, what car would you buy? I agree that the saloon is kinda weird, but in my opinion it will compete with the evos and the subys. That cannot be bad for BMW's profits. And considering the offering to not only the smaller saloon consumers, but the small hatch consumers as well, I wouldn't mind an M version of the 1.
4 drs FTW!!! :D its not like they arent makin the 2 dr. I for one love the idea of a 4dr sedan that can rape most 2dr sport coupes. Granted, they have the M5 for that too but still. I think this one could look a little more aggresive but still doesn't look bad.
