        Bendix Two-Speed kickback

Its about time this thread had a picture of a Bendix 2 speed. You pedal backwards slightly to upshift (or downshift). If you pedal back farther you get coaster brake.

This bike started when I saw a Metalflake Purple banana seat on ebay. I gradually pieced it together from everywhere to have all the parts for a full legit 1966 Schwinn DeLuxe StingRay.

Here's my bike, wal-mart special . It was cheap, and I needed a bike to get around wisconsin..

Excuse the crappy cell phone pic :nice:

Dunno why it's so blurry, my phone usually does better than that... I'll try again later.

I might do it just to make skids easier, there's not really that many bad hills around here. I'm just afraid that if I make it easier, it's going to be harder to keep a good cadence and keep from bouncing around when going down them. But I thought that going to more teeth on the cog will make it harder to pedal? I must have this backwards. Also, if I just go a little higher and go to a 17t, I'll have more skid patches, since it's an odd number, right?

That's actually not bad for a Wal-Mart bike. Tons of people convert Sears and other old junk bikes into badass fixies all the time. It's too bad that frame doesn't have the right dropouts, that would be a sick fixie frame.

Just got back from a night ride on my mtb. 2002 Specialized with XTR components. I was going to turn this into a SS but I think I want my first to be a rigid.

You know you're an E30 owner when any picture you take of anything in or near your garage has a random E30 part in it, somewhere.

Oh boy. Just got back from a shakedown ride with my new goodies. The bike is SO much lighter and comfortable now.

One of the local bike shops has a 17t Surly cog in stock for $30. I might just have to go snag this tomorrow...

Not mine, but a C'dale CF gearie converted to SS with a Eno rear hub. Super hot IMHO
